We report the synthesis and characterization of a two-dimensional (2D) MX2Y2-type (M = metal, X, Y = N, S, O, and X ≠ Y) copper 1,3,5-triamino-2,4,6-benzenetriol metal-organic framework (Cu3(TABTO)2-MOF). The role of oxygen in the synthesis of this MOF was investigated. Copper metal is formed along with the MOF when the synthesis is done in argon as suggested by XRD. When the reaction was exposed to air with vigorous stirring, copper metal was not observed by XRD. Tracheoesophageal fistula can develop after surgical repair of congenital esophageal atresia, but it usually occurs in pediatric populations. Here, we present an adult patient with an unusual very-delayed onset of a large tracheoesophageal fistula and near esophagocutaneous fistula treated with serial multimodal endoscopic management featuring over-the-scope clips, argon plasma coagulation, and endoscopic suturing.

We report four patients with functionally significant inadvertent cyclodialysis cleft. In three, the cleft followed uneventful extracapsular cataract extraction with posterior chamber intraocular lens implantation; in the fourth, blunt trauma with hyphema. Ocular hypotony resolved in three patients with medical therapy; the fourth required argon laser photocoagulation. Causes, clinical findings, and treatment of inadvertent cyclodialysis cleft are reviewed.

Epiphrenic esophageal diverticula (EED) is a rare condition that usually presents with dysphagia in patients with a known motility disorder. In this article, we present a unique case of EED presenting with hemoptysis with clinical workup negative for any pulmonary pathology. Esophagogastroduodenoscopy revealed arteriovenous malformations within the EED successfully managed with argon plasma coagulation (APC), leading to a resolution of the patient's symptoms.

Castleman's disease (CD) is a rare lymphoproliferative disorder of uncertain cause. The most common site of involvement is the mediastinum. Endotracheal CD is extremely rare. We report a case of unicentric, hyaline-vascular type CD presenting as an obstructive tracheal mass. The tumor was successfully managed by rigid bronchoscopy with argon plasma coagulation. There was no recurrence at the 2-month follow-up visit.

This report describes two patients who developed a secondary form of pigmentary open-angle glaucoma after implantation of a posterior chamber intraocular lens. The glaucoma was associated with considerable erosion of the iris pigment epithelium and a charcoal-black pigmentation of the trabecular meshwork. One case responded to argon laser trabeculoplasty and the other case did not. Possible causes of this syndrome are discussed.

We report on a project to determine the feasibility of treating carotid artery stenosis with the argon laser (1985) and the clinical results of recanalising peripheral arteries. Training for the above-mentioned project showed that sapphire-tipped Nd:YAG laser optical fibers are the proper instruments for recanalisation. New attempts with new catheter material should make the recanalisation of the carotid artery possible in the future.

Three low-energy isomers of 9-methylguanine, the amino-oxo (AO) form and two amino-hydroxy (AH1 and AH2) conformers, were trapped from the gas phase into low-temperature argon matrices. Radiation-induced hemorrhagic gastritis is a relatively uncommon complication of irradiation that can be severe. However, appropriate treatment guidelines have not yet been established because of the small number of known cases. At our hospital, we encountered nine cases of radiation-induced hemorrhagic gastritis between July 2005 and July 2018. All patients initially underwent argon plasma coagulation (APC) for hemostasis. BACKGROUND: The usual transbronchial coagulation techniques include microwave, argon plasma coagulation (APC), electrocautery and cryotherapy. Reactions of copper ions with D-penicillamine (PSH) have been monitored by 1H NMR spectroscopy in the presence and absence of glutathione (GSH) under aerobic as well as anaerobic conditions. In D2O solution at pD = 7.4, PSH coordinates to Cu+ to form PS(-)-Cu+ under argon atmosphere as revealed from the broadening of each signal. The argon laser microscope recently developed by the author is used to vaporize the stapes tendon, the posterior crus and a rosette of holes in the stapes footplate in the surgical treatment of otosclerosis. An autogenous vein--stainless steel piston assembly is used to reconstruct the stapes portion of the ossicular chain. The surgical technique and results in a preliminary series of 11 patients are reported. Rationale and advantages over conventional stapedectomy are discussed.
