PURPOSE: To assess visual acuity (VA) outcomes in a large cohort of patients diagnosed with nonarteritic central retinal artery occlusion (CRAO), and to ascertain whether time from symptom onset to presentation, presenting VA, or conservative treatment delivery (anterior chamber paracentesis, ocular massage, intraocular pressure lowering drugs, hyperventilation, or some combination of those) impacted ultimate VA outcomes.

To investigate the possibility of earlier cases of severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 infection than previously recognized, we retrospectively tested pooled samples from 1,700 persons with respiratory signs/symptoms seen at Stanford Health Care, Palo Alto, California, USA, during the last 2 months of 2019. We investigated coccidioidomycosis testing and treatment patterns among persons in an integrated healthcare delivery system to identify gaps in diagnosis and treatment. Coccidioidomycosis diagnosis delays were common. Among persons who tested positive, 70% were prescribed antibiotics before positive coccidioidomycosis tests. Antibiotic treatment decreased and antifungal treatment increased after positive testing.
