BACKGROUND AND AIM OF THE STUDY: Cardiac surgery in octogenarians is now performed routinely, and generally results in a good improvement in functional capacity. The study aim was to evaluate operative mortality and to identify preoperative and postoperative risk factors of mortality.

BACKGROUND: Transmyocardial laser revascularization (TMLR) is advocated to offer relief of incapacitating angina for patients whose coronary vessels are poor targets for coronary artery bypass graft surgery (CABG) or balloon angioplasty and stenting.
