Bacteremia due to Erysipelothrix rhusiopathiae is rare; the most common presentation reported in the literature is endocarditis. We report a 32-year-old man with oropharyngeal cancer who developed aspiration pneumonia and E. rhusiopathiae bacteremia, and presented with fever, chills, dyspnea, and productive cough with purulent sputum. We report a case of an overdose with fetal demise from the intravaginal administration of misoprostol. A 25-yr-old gravid female self-administered 6000 micrograms misoprostol intravaginally and 600 micrograms orally. This study was designated to establish the incidence of septic complications associated with Nd:YAG-laser treatment of varied gastrointestinal lesions. A total of 30 laser procedures were performed for 27 patients with both upper and lower gastrointestinal diseases. Thirty minutes after the completion of laser therapy, blood culture was obtained from each patient. Between February and October 1987, a febrile illness killed 14 persons and seriously affected at least 14 others in Shumpillan, a remote Peruvian mountain village of 353 people. Forty cases of cerebral Plasmodium falciparum malaria seen at San Lazaro Hospital, Manila, Philippines from 1979-1981 were reviewed. These cases represented 7% of all Plasmodium falciparum cases seen during this period. All of the patients had fever and headache, 73% confusion, 70% chills, 68% jaundice or abdominal pain, 60% sweats.
