INTRODUCTION: Duodenal adenocarcinomas are relatively rare. We report here a particularly rare case of duodenal adenocarcinoma that arose within a duodenal bulb diverticulum and was successfully managed surgically.
CASE PRESENTATION: A 70-year-old woman presented to us with a history of duodenal bulb ulceration and a diverticulum in the same area diagnosed by esophagogastroduodenoscopy. Routine endoscopic examination revealed an elevated lesion growing from within the diverticulum to outside of it. Examination of a biopsy specimen resulted in a diagnosis of well-differentiated adenocarcinoma.

INTRODUCTION: Nonampullary duodenal epithelial tumors are rare, but their prevalence is increasing. Various gastrointestinal cancers have been associated with microbiomes. We evaluated the characteristics of the salivary and duodenal microbiomes of patients with nonampullary duodenal epithelial tumors.
METHODS: Saliva and biopsy samples from the duodenal bulb and descending portion were obtained from 15 patients with nonampullary duodenal epithelial tumors and 10 controls. Next-generation sequencing was performed to identify bacteria for comparison.

We report a case of intestinal obstruction due to intramural hematoma of the duodenum following therapeutic endoscopy for a bleeding duodenal ulcer in a patient with liver cirrhosis. A 44-year-old man was admitted to our hospital with severe epigastralgia, nausea and tarry stool. During investigation of proteolisis of duodenum mucosa in patients of elderly and senile age with duodenal ulcer, complicated by hemorrhage, in terms up 8 for days there was revealed considerable increase of proteolytic activity, especially of high-molecular proteins and collagens, maximum--on the first day of hemorrhage. In all terms the revealed activity of anterior wall of duodenum was higher, than posterior.
