BACKGROUND: The purpose of this study was to analyze a series of patients with a high-grade metaphyseal osteosarcoma of the knee who had been treated with a transepiphyseal resection, with preservation of the distal femoral and the proximal tibial (articular) portions of the epiphysis, and an intercalary allograft reconstruction.

The cases of twenty-five patients with Stage-I parosteal osteosarcoma were analyzed to ascertain the incidence of recurrence after forty-two various surgical procedures that produced an intracapsular, marginal, wide, or radical excisional margin. BACKGROUND: Parosteal osteosarcoma is a rare type of osteosarcoma with distinct characteristics. Clinical outcome of 21 patients was analyzed to assess the predictive relevance of surgical margin, intramedullary tumor extension and histologic grade.

OBJECTIVE: To investigate the safety and effectiveness of venous stenting in patients with chronic iliofemoral venous obstruction and secondary lymphedema from malignancy.
METHODS: From July 2012 to December 2020, patients with iliofemoral venous obstruction and secondary lymphedema who underwent venous stenting in our institution were reviewed retrospectively. Leiomyosarcoma is an aggressive soft tissue sarcoma derived from smooth muscle cells. Of all soft tissue sarcomas, approximately 5-10% are leiomyosarcomas. We report a case in which we extracted retroperitoneal schwannoma by a nerve sparing procedure under microscopic surgery. A 63-year-old male was diagnosed with left ureter stone and left hydronephrosis. A left retroperitoneal tumor was found by the abdominal ultrasound sonography. Abdominal computed tomography and magnetic resonance imaging revealed the mass 20 mm in diameter in the retroperitoneal cavity. We considered that the tumor arose from the left femoral nerve, and removed it under microscopic surgery. There was no malignancy. There was neither recurrence nor neuropathy after operation

A rare case of bilateral pathological femoral neck fractures secondary to ectopic parathyroid adenoma is reported. Both hip fractures were treated with closed reduction and internal fixation. The right hip fracture healed uneventfully, whereas the left hip fracture developed non-union that required subtrochanteric osteotomy and internal fixation and eventually healed. Neither hip developed avascular necrosis.
