In response to political pressure, the state of Florida repealed its mandatory motorcycle helmet-use law for all operators and passengers older than the age of 21, effective July 1, 2000. The effects of Florida's Personal Fitness Course were studied on 60 secondary students' cognitive achievement, physical fitness, and attitude toward physical activity. Significant improvement in knowledge of fitness concepts, selected physical fitness parameters, and over-all attitude toward participation in physical activity suggests the course was effective.

Treatment of aortic arch pathology is rapidly evolving. Current techniques utilize a combination of open and endovascular approaches. Existing techniques such as B-SAFER require endograft modification for complete arch debranching which may predispose the graft to failure or endoleak. We developed the FETHAR, a novel method for hybrid aortic repair and demonstrate its use in a patient who presented with an acute dissection with contained rupture. Polysubstance use (PSU) is common among people with HIV (PWH), and cannabis use, both medical and non-medical, is increasingly prevalent in this population. This study examined patterns of PSU by cannabis use status and motivation among 333 PWH who reported past-year substance use. The sample was 67.6% non-Hispanic Black/African American, 54.3% male, and 78% current cannabis use. PSU was defined as the number of non-cannabis substances used in the past 12 months (range: 0-9). Mercury bioaccumulation has been a serious environmental concern in Florida's Everglades. Mosquitofish (Gambusia holbrooki) composite samples were collected from 12 stations within the Everglades Protection Area and Everglades National Park from 1998 to 2022 and were analyzed for total mercury (THg).
