Dystrophic epidermolysis bullosa (DEB) is a rare, inherited, blistering disorder resulting from mutations in the COL7A1 gene, which encodes the anchoring fibrils, type VII collagen. Capecitabine is an antineoplastic agent used for the treatment of patients with metastatic solid tumors (breast and colon). Different adverse effects have been recognized, among which we find the muco-cutaneous ones and, specifically, hyperpigmentation. Onychomycosis was considered uncommon in children. This survey was carried out to estimate the frequency of fungal nail infections in children and adolescents (0-18 years of age) attending our clinic in the last decade and gain more insight into the aetiology and clinics of this entity in the paediatric age group. Four females and two males with seronegative monoarthritis of the manubriosternal joint are reported. Two patients had pustulosis palmoplantaris, one psoriasis vulgaris, and one HLA-B27. The arthritis is considered to be a monoarticular manifestation of seronegative spondylarthritis. Two patients had no other diseases or signs. Four patients were followed for a mean of 8.5 years (range 2-16 years) during which time affection of other joints or the spine was not seen.

BACKGROUND: Herein we report a rare case of acquired palmoplantar keratoderma in association with myxoedema and hypothyroidism.
PATIENTS AND METHODS: A 53-year-old woman presented with palmoplantar keratoderma, dry skin, muscular weakness and cramps for 9 months. The laboratory work-up revealed autoimmune thyroiditis with hypothyroidism. Skin biopsy showed chronic eczema. Other causes of acquired palmoplantar keratoderma were ruled out. Rapid improvement was achieved within 3 weeks of institution of hormone replacement therapy.
