PURPOSE: To report the early success of the use of topical cyclosporine A 0.5% drops to treat Theodore's superior limbic keratoconjunctivitis (SLK).
DESIGN: A retrospective noncomparative case series.
PARTICIPANTS: Five patients diagnosed with SLK.
INTERVENTION: All five patients were treated with topical cyclosporine A 0.5% drops as primary or adjunctive therapy after treatment failure in some of prednisolone acetate 1% drops and topical silver nitrate 0.5% application. Topical cyclosporine A 0.5% drops were used four times a day in both eyes.

Injectable cutaneous microimplants may occasionally cause either persistent local irritation or late skin reactions in the form of foreign body granulomas at the injected areas. Permanent elimination of the latter is not easily achieved. The skin of a female patient developed nodules along the treated sites on her face a few months following the last session of intracutaneous injections. Intralesional steroids offered temporary and incomplete clearance. Colchicine was administered orally for better results.

In recent years, the demand for cosmetic interventions to augment soft tissue by injecting different substances has increased, due to their apparent innocuity. However, these procedures are not free from adverse reactions, such as the formation of foreign body granulomas, a phenomenon described in literature with most of the materials used. We report the case of a female patient with inflammatory lesions of the face, whose diagnosis was made after the histopathological study, which revealed a granuloma caused by liquid silicone.

CHARACTERISTICS: Cytosteatonecrosis of the newborn (CSNN) is an acute hypodermatitis that appears within the first four weeks of life. It essentially develops in infants born at term or postmature, and following a difficult delivery. THE LESIONS: The lesions are more or less extended sub-cutaneous nodules or inflammatory plaques on the body that regress spontaneously, without after effects, within one to four months. PURPOSE: To evaluate the inductive capacity of F18 bioglass putty on the induced membrane technique in a segmental bone defect of the rabbit's radius.
METHODS: Ten female Norfolk at 24 months of age were used. The animals were randomly separated based on postoperative time points: five rabbits at 21 and four at 42 days. A 1-cm segmental bone defect was created in both radii. The bone defects were filled with an F18 bioglass putty.
