Fourteen patients with extramammary Paget's disease of the vulva treated at Yale-New Haven Medical Center from 1982 through 1993 were reviewed to evaluate the accuracy of methods used to delineate surgical margins and to determine if radical operations or surgical margin status was associated with likelihood of recurrence. Capillary hemangiomas of the testis are extremly rare tumors. We reported a case of intratesticular hemangioma, unusually localisation of this vascular benign neoplasm. The patient was 12 year old boy, with hydrocele and a palpabile testicular mass. Scrotal sonography revealed varicocele and hydrocele in the left scrotal sac. There was a solid hypoechogenic zone 5 mm in diameter in the left testis. Tumor markers like serum level of beta human chorionic gonadotropin and alpha fetoprotein were normal. The patient underwent surgery, and intraoperativ frozen section showed a capillary hemangioma.

Among 545 surgically treated Graves' disease patients, 17 were found to have coexisting thyroid neoplasms. Of these 17 patients, 11 turned out to have thyroid carcinomas. These patients could be divided into 2 groups; Group I with a diffusely enlarged gland with a clinically palpable nodule (n = 6) and Group II without a palpable nodule (n = 5). In Group I, 4 patients were diagnosed by preoperative fine needle aspiration cytology, and the remaining 2 by intraoperative frozen-section examination. BACKGROUND AND AIM: TcRγδ+ and CD3+ intraepithelial lymphocytes (IELs) counting is crucial for celiac disease (CD) diagnosis. TcRγδ+ staining by immunohistochemistry (IHC) is usually performed on frozen optimal-cutting-temperature-compound (OCT)-embedded sections that are not routinely stored in most hospitals. We implemented an IHC protocol for TcRγδ+ IELs on formalin-fixed paraffin-embedded (FFPE) duodenal sections, and performed it along with CD3 staining to estimate cut-offs useful for CD diagnosis for both markers.

OBJECTIVE: While frozen section methods have been widely conducted to determine aganglionosis segment during transanal endorectal pull-through (TEPT) for Hirschsprung disease (HSCR) patients in most institutions, some hospitals still rely on contrast enema to predict aganglionosis segments due to unavailability of frozen section facilities. We determined the accuracy of transition zone in contrast enema to predict aganglionosis segments during TEPT. We retrospectively reviewed all contrast enema and frozen sections for HSCR patients under 2 years of age who underwent TEPT at our institution.
