Succinate Dehydrogenase Defects Giant Renal Cell Carcinoma.

Succinate dehydrogenase (SDH)-deficient renal cell carcinoma (RCC) is a new subtype of RCC included in the 2016 edition of the WHO classification in RCC. SDH-defective RCC accounts for 0.05-0.2%, and preoperative diagnosis is difficult. We report a severe adherent RCC of inferior vena cava that underwent open radical nephrectomy after preoperative renal artery embolization. Postoperative histopathological examination diagnosed SDH-defective RCC; the clinicopathological stage was pT2b. After 10 months of follow-up, the patient had no evidence of disease recurrence. For patients with large RCC,

Tenosynovial giant cell tumour of the finger: a case report.

Giant cell tumour most commonly occuring in epiphysis of the long bone, present and with pain, tenderness and swelling. It is a solitary lesion with restricted movement and tenderness over the lesion. The tendon sheath is where tenosynovial giant cell tumours typically develop. Because of its remarkably peculiar position, we present a case of giant cell tumour (GCT) tenosynovial of bone in the middle phalaynx in a 33-year-old female with complaints of swelling, pain in ring finger of left hand since 2 months which is rarely seen. After clinical, radiological, pathological investigations tenosy

Outcomes of Tenosynovial Giant Cell Tumor of the Foot and Ankle.

BACKGROUND: Tenosynovial giant cell tumor (TGCT) is a benign proliferative disease affecting synovial membranes. There are 2 forms, localized (L-TGCT) and diffuse (D-TGCT), which although histologically similar behave differently. It is locally invasive and is treated in most cases by operative excision. The aim of this study was to assess current practice, how the patients' presentation affected their outcome, as well as review the recurrence rates and complications. METHODS: A retrospective analysis of 123 cases was performed in patients treated between 2003 and 2019 with TGCT of the foot a

A very rare case of giant cell tumor in child.

Giant cell tumor of the toes are exceptional, especially in children, these tumors typically grow at the ends of the body's long bones. This current case report describes an 10-year-old boy admitted to the department of pediatric orthopedic surgery for a painful tumor of the left fourth toe. Clinical examination revealed a painful mass sits on the distal phalanx of the fourth toe. X-ray showed well-limited osteolysis, and axial deviation of the distal phalanx. For further clarification we ordered an MRI, which was in favor of a giant cell tumor. We proceeded to the large resection of the dista

Giant Cell Arteritis Masquerading As Migraine: A Case Report.

Giant cell arteritis, or temporal arteritis, is a chronic granulomatous vasculitis that affects large- and medium-sized arteries. An elderly male of 61 years presenting with chronic headaches for the past one year had been misdiagnosed as having migraine because of the similarity in symptoms. General examination revealed the presence of bilateral large, tortuous temporal arteries without any scalp tenderness, diminished arterial pulsations, or skin changes over the dilated arteries. A temporal artery biopsy revealed giant cell arteritis and was treated with steroids. This case report highlight

Cranial giant cell arteritis mimickers: A masquerade to unveil.

Giant cell arteritis (GCA) is a large-vessel vasculitis that affects cranial and extra-cranial arteries. Extra-cranial GCA presents mainly with non-specific symptoms and the differential diagnosis is very broad, while the cranial form has more typical clinical picture and physicians have a lower threshold for diagnosis and treatment. Although temporal artery biopsy (TAB) has an established role, ultrasound (US) is being increasingly used as the first-line imaging modality in suspected GCA. Vasculitides (especially ANCA-associated), hematological disorders (mainly amyloidosis), neoplasms, infec

PD-L1 Status in Tenosynovial Giant Cell Tumors.

Background and Objectives: Tenosynovial giant cell tumors (TSGCTs) are benign soft tissue tumors that are divided into localized- and diffuse-type tumors, according to the World Health Organization classification of soft tissue tumours. The diffuse-type TSGCT sometimes behave aggressively and poses treatment challenges especially in patients with neurovascular involvement. Symptomatic patients who are not good candidates for surgery due to high morbidity risk may benefit from medical therapy. Objectives: Drugs that target programmed death ligand 1 (PD-L1) are among a new generation of medical

Update on the Treatment of Giant Cell Arteritis and Polymyalgia Rheumatica.

Giant cell arteritis (GCA) and polymyalgia rheumatica (PMR) are considered 2 diseases on the same spectrum due to their many underlying similarities. In recent years, both diseases have witnessed both diagnostic and treatment advances, which shaped the way we manage them. In this article, the authors focus on different diagnostic modalities in GCA as well as the presence of different clinical phenotypes and the role of screening for aortic involvement. The authors also discuss traditional treatments and the role of evolving steroid-sparing agents in the management of both GCA and PMR.

Giant cell arteritis: a cause of temporomandibular joint claudication.

The purpose of this case report was to benefit the clinical recognition and conservative management of giant cell arteritis (GCA) in temporal arteries associated with jaw claudication. Giant cell arteritis is a systemic inflammatory vasculitis that affects medium-to-large-sized arteries. Primarily affecting arteries in heads, especially in temples, chronic GCA can result in secondary headaches and even polymyalgia rheumatica. This is a case report of a 68-year-old female with a 10-year history of GCA. The patient presented jaw claudication, headache, and joint stiffness over 6 months. The left

Recurrent Giant Cell Tumor of the Distal End of the Femur.

INTRODUCTION: The leading cause of low back pain in our country like India in children and in adolescent has been found to be lumbar spondylolysis. This affects approximately 6-8% of adults in the general population which includes a large number of asymptomatic cases. The main cause in this disease is found to be that of fatigue features which are found in 10% of young adults during heavy labor work, sports, and athletic activities. CASE REPORT: A 25-year-old, left hand dominant, cricket player was referred to Dr. DY Patil Hospital and Research Centre, Pimpri, Pune with complaint of low back

Lingual necrosis leading to the diagnosis of giant cell arteritis.

Giant cell arteritis (GCA) is a chronic vasculitis comprising large- and medium-sized arteries branches originating from the aortic arch. GCA diagnosis might be challenging due to its several clinical characteristics. This clinical report describes a case of a 91-year-old woman who was admitted with tongue necrosis. Medical history revealed mild headache episodes and jaw numbness. Summing up clinical and laboratory findings, the diagnosis of GCA was established. Surgical debridement and corticotherapy led to complete resolution of the tongue lesion with no need for any additional intervention.

Neurosarcoidosis Masquerading as Giant Cell Arteritis With Incidental Meningioma.

We present a case of vision loss secondary to neurosarcoidosis, which initially presented with severe bilateral vision loss, temporal headaches, and elevated erythrocyte sedimentation rate, concerning for giant cell arteritis. However, temporal artery biopsy was negative. Initial neuroimaging features were misinterpreted to represent a meningioma that did not account for his clinical presentation. Clinical course, including atypically rapid enlargement of presumed meningioma, development of skin lesions, appearance of optic nerve enhancement on MRI, and steroid response, strongly increased sus

Management of tenosynovial giant cell tumour of the foot and ankle.

AIMS: Tenosynovial giant cell tumour (TGCT) is one of the most common soft-tissue tumours of the foot and ankle and can behave in a locally aggressive manner. Tumour control can be difficult, despite the various methods of treatment available. Since treatment guidelines are lacking, the aim of this study was to review the multidisciplinary management by presenting the largest series of TGCT of the foot and ankle to date from two specialized sarcoma centres. METHODS: The Oxford Tumour Registry and the Leiden University Medical Centre Sarcoma Registry were retrospectively reviewed for patients

Giant Cell Tumor of Tendon Sheath in Knee Capsule.

A giant cell tumor of the tendon sheath (GCTTS) is a benign, soft tissue (synovial membrane) tumor that frequently involves the fingers. However, the localized form of the GCTTS can be rarely seen in large joints such as knees, ankles, and shoulders. GCTTS may occur due to questionable etiology that includes inflammation, trauma, or chromosomal abnormalities. This is a case of a 30-year-old female, who presented with a painful mass in her right knee. Examination revealed a palpable, tender, slightly mobile mass lateral to the patella. MRI demonstrated a cystic lesion that underwent excision. D
