We report the case of a patient presenting with serous retinal detachment following radial optic neurotomy for central retinal vein occlusion. Initially, the retinal detachment was successfully treated by a second vitrectomy and laser coagulation. After reabsorption of the gas tamponade, a recurrence of the retinal detachment was seen with no detectable retinal break. PURPOSE: Focal therapy using lasers is emerging as an alternative strategy for prostate cancer treatment. However, to our knowledge no anatomically correct models are available to test imaging and ablation techniques. Animal models present ethical, anatomical and cost challenges. We designed and validated an inexpensive but anatomically correct prostate phantom incorporating tumor, rectum and urethra that can be used for simulated and experimental magnetic resonance guided focal intervention. BACKGROUND: The purpose of this study is to evaluate the efficacy and safety of holmium laser prostatectomy in patients diagnosed with primary bladder neck obstruction (PBNO), compared with patients with benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH).
METHODS: We analyzed the databases of patients who underwent a holmium laser prostatectomy or enucleation of the prostate for PBNO and BPH between January 2018 and August 2022. PBNO was diagnosed primarily based on cystourethroscopic findings. Patients were followed up according to a regular protocol at 2 weeks, 3 mo, and 6 mo postoperatively.

SIGNIFICANCE: Selective retina therapy (SRT) selectively targets the retinal pigment epithelium (RPE) and reduces negative side effects by avoiding thermal damages of the adjacent photoreceptors, the neural retina, and the choroid. However, the selection of proper laser energy for the SRT is challenging because of ophthalmoscopically invisible lesions in the RPE and different melanin concentrations among patients or even regions within an eye.
AIM: We propose and demonstrate SRT monitoring based on speckle variance optical coherence tomography (svOCT) for dosimetry control.

PURPOSE: To report a case of late-onset fluid-filled Descemet membrane detachment (DMD) after cataract surgery.
METHOD: A case report with review of literature.
SUMMARY: The patient presented with DMD with turbid fluid accumulation, 19 months after cataract surgery. The DMD was successfully treated by draining the fluid into the anterior chamber via openings made in Descemet membrane using Nd:YAG laser (Neodymium-doped Yttrium Aluminum Garnet). To our knowledge, this is the first case report of fluid-filled DMD treated with the help of Nd:YAG laser.

BACKGROUND: The argon beam coagulation (ABC) is a safe and effective tool for surgical cytoreduction of metastatic ovarian carcinomas.
CASE: A 66-year-old woman with newly diagnosed advanced stage epithelial ovarian cancer underwent primary cytoreductive surgery involving ABC of tumor implants. Intraoperatively, she experienced cardiac arrest during use of the ABC. She was successfully resuscitated. The etiology of the arrest was thought to be secondary to a venous gas embolism.
