OBJECTIVE: Halitosis secondary to pathology of the palatine tonsils is considered airway (type 2) halitosis in the etiologic classification. … . Tonsillar halitosis is thought to occur mainly because of chronic caseous tonsillitis and tonsillolithiasis (tonsil stones). Tonsillectomy and various cryptolysis techniques are reported to improve halitosis in such cases. In this article, diagnostic methods and evidence for interventions are reviewed.

We report a case of broncholithiasis secondary to pulmonary actinomycosis. A gallbladder incarcerated hernia associated with Mirizzi syndrome is a very rare entity and to our knowledge this is the first case ever described in literature. An 85-year-old man presented at the emergency department with a tender right upper quadrant mass. Agenesis of the gallbladder and cystic duct is a rare congenital malformation. In 40-70% of cases this anomaly is associated with other gastrointestinal, skeletal, cardiovascular and genitourinary malformations. Lithiasis of the common bile duct is present in 25-50% of cases. A case of primary mucinous carcinoma originating in the renal pelvis associated with renal lithiasis is reported. The left kidney removed was mostly occupied by mucinous carcinoma with areas of signet ring cell carcinoma. The epithelium covering the pelvis consisted of a single layer of columnar epithelium with scattered goblet cells and mucous glands. A series of careful examinations of the abdominal viscera failed to disclose any other primary lesion. The patient died with multiple peritoneal tumor disseminations eight months after the operation despite additional chemotherapy.

We report two new cases of gallbladder volvulus. This rare condition principally affects elderly patients but is due to a congenital malformation related to the presence of a long mesocyst. Various factors such as kyphoscoliosis, multiparity and peristalsis of neighbouring organs favorise the occurrence of volvulus, the role of lithiasis is debatable. Male Fü-albino rats were weaned at the age of four weeks and maintained on a vitamin A-deficient diet. When they were 14-18 and 21-26 weeks old, the concentration of uromucoid, calcium and other substances possibly important for the pathogenesis of urinary calculi were determined.
