UNLABELLED: Our objective was to analyze whether a correlation could be observed between preoperative factors and microvascular lymph node transfer outcome after long-term follow-up.
METHODS: We included 67 patients in this retrospective case series. The incidence of cellulitis, the difference of arm circumference, the use of the compression garments both preoperatively and postoperatively, and subjective symptoms, such as pain, were analyzed. BACKGROUND: Debate continues over the management of the N0 neck in head and neck malignancy. Therefore, the possibility of performing sentinel node biopsy in these patients was investigated to formulate a method for the procedure.
METHODS: Patients undergoing prophylactic or therapeutic neck dissections were injected with either Patent Blue V dye alone or with blue dye and 99m-Tc labeled Albures. BACKGROUND: Preoperative lymphoscintigraphy (LS) with 99mTc antimony sulphide colloid is now part of the routine management of patients with intermediate thickness melanoma at the Sydney Melanoma Unit. Over a 13-year period, 1375 patients have been examined using LS, and we have observed many unusual lymphatic drainage pathways, including direct drainage through the body wall to retroperitoneal and paravertebral lymph nodes from the skin of the back. The aim of this study was to determine the incidence of such drainage in the 542 patients who had primary melanoma sites on the posterior trunk.
