In the present reaction, aromatic and alpha,beta-unsaturated aldehydes performed as nice substrates to give the corresponding alpha-alkoxy amide products in good yield.

Vincristine-induced peripheral neuropathy (VIPN) adversely affects the quality of life and treatment continuity of patients. The endothelial glycocalyx (eGCX) protects nerves from harmful substances released from the capillary vessels, but its role in peripheral neuropathy remains unclear. A 71-year-old male presented with abdominal distension and fever to our hospital. Abdominal CT revealed a huge tumor in abdomen, and non-curative surgery was performed. Peritoneal dissemination was widespread and the tumor invaded the bladder and sigmoid-colon mesenterium. Two new C-nor/D-homo corticosteroids were isolated from the filtrate of the triene carbonate intermediate during the production of betamethasone. Their structures were elucidated based on NMR spectroscopic studies and mass spectral analyses.
