Squamous cell carcinoma of the tongue is rare in children and previously unreported as a second malignancy after survival of acute leukemia. Usual etiologic associations such as smoking and alcohol use are not commonly seen in this population, and exposure to immunosuppressive and antineoplastic agents including radiation therapy may contribute to the occurrence of these tumors. A review of the literature reveals only 21 previously reported cases of squamous cell carcinoma of the tongue in children less than 15 years old, and in only two cases was it a second malignancy; none were in leukemia

BACKGROUND: Melanoma is rare as a secondary malignant neoplasm among childhood cancer survivors.
CASE: We report a case of a 12-year-old boy who developed malignant melanoma with systemic metastases 17 months after completing treatment for hepatoblastoma. The diagnosis was made unexpectedly based on a bone marrow examination. The patient did not respond to immune checkpoint inhibitor therapy and died 6 weeks after being diagnosed with melanoma. Adenosquamous Carcinoma is a rare, aggresssive variant of squamous cell carcinoma that may HPV-driven in the oropharynx. Although it is reported to behave similar to HPV-related squamous cell carcinoma, the literature is very limited for this disease. We present a case of early T and N stage HPV + adenosquamous carcinoma of the tonsil that metastasized immediately following surgery and adjuvant therapy despite only having microscopic nodal burden. Circulating tumor DNA (ctDNA) was instrumental in recognizing and salvaging metastatic disease early with radiation.

Sarcoma can present as locally advanced disease involving pleura for which extra-pleural pneumonectomy (EPP) may be the only surgical option to ensure adequate local control. We describe a rare case of tracheal metastasis from endometrial carcinoma obstructing the central airway. A 57-year-old woman who underwent previous surgery for endometrial serous adenocarcinoma presented with severe tracheal stenosis caused by a stalked tracheal tumor. Urgent debulking surgery was performed under rigid bronchoscopy. The tumor stem was dissected using ultrasonically activated device blades. Rigid bronchoscopy combined with an ultrasonically activated device is an effective option for relieving tracheal stenosis and resecting the intratracheal tumor.
