BACKGROUND: Drug-eluting coronary stents with ultrathin struts and biodegradable polymers have been shown to reduce inflammation, neointimal proliferation, and thrombus formation, leading to less early and late complications in patients with coronary artery disease as compared to thinner strut and durable polymer second-generation stents. Between June, 1984, and May, 1988, 130 patients from three renal units in the United Arab Emirates and Oman went of their own accord to Bombay, where they bought, through brokers, kidneys from living unrelated Indian donors for US$2600-3300. 131 transplants were done, and the 122 patients who survived the perioperative period returned to their original renal units for follow-up. We report a large inbred kindred from Oman with a distinct type of spondyloepiphyseal dysplasia (SED). We evaluated eight individuals from two consanguineous sibships, one male and seven females between the ages of 2 and 22. OBJECTIVES: Post-infarction ventricular septal defect (VSD) is one of the known complications after acute myocardial infarction. This study investigated the clinical results after surgical repair of VSD.
METHODS: This retrospective study included all patients undergoing surgical repair of VSD from 1996 to 2020 in Oman.
