Selective detection of nitroxyl (HNO), which has recently been identified as a reactive nitrogen species, is a challenging task. We report a BODIPY-based luminescence ON reagent for detection of HNO in aqueous solution and in live RAW 264.7 cells, based on the soft nucleophilicity of the phosphine oxide functionality toward HNO. The probe shows high selectivity to HNO over other reactive oxygen/nitrogen and sulfur species. Luminescence properties of the BODIPY-based chemodosimetric reagent make it an ideal candidate for use as a reagent for super-resolution structured illumination microscopy.

A solid sorbent sampling tube packed with Tenax-GC is used with a personal sampling pump to collect samples of white (yellow) phosphorus vapor from air. The phosphorus is leached from the exposed sorbent into xylene and quantitated by gas chromatographic analysis. Highly enantioselective rhodium-catalyzed addition of arylboroxines to N-phosphinoylaldimines was realized by the steric tuning of a diphenylphosphorus moiety to a di(o-tolyl)phosphorus moiety of a chiral amidomonophosphane. Brugada pattern electrocardiogram (ECG) unmasking can occur due to various drugs. There are old reports of the acute infarction pattern in aluminum phosphide (rodenticide)-related toxic myocarditis. The given case illustrates the Brugada pattern and various other ECG abnormalities in a patient with this poisoning. A kinetic study is reported for aminolysis of aryl diphenylphosphinothioates (2a-i). The phosphinothioates 2a-i are less reactive than aryl diphenylphosphinates (1a-i), the oxygen analogues of 2a-i, regardless of the basicity of the leaving aryloxides or the attacking amines. A lipoic acid(LA)-base hydrogel polymerization, viscosity, and relaxivity were explored by varying several different bases, additives, Gd3+ chelates, and with or without a reducing agent (tris(2-carboxyethyl)phosphine, TCEP).
