Three hundred eight outpatients referred for hypertension were studied. A continuous beat-to-beat noninvasive recording (Finapres) of blood pressure evaluated the blood pressure increase (9 mm Hg systolic and 4 mm Hg diastolic) induced by office sphygmomanometry.
