This paper reports a rare case of rectosigmoid colon carcinoma metastasizing to anal fistula. The patient is a 57-year old man with a 7-year history of a fistula in ano. Colonoscopy revealed a rectosigmoid carcinoma. He underwent high-anterior resection. Two years and 3 months later, a subcutaneous tumor was found at the external opening of fistula. Trans perineal tumor excision plus fistulectomy was performed. Pathology revealed that the colon cancer and the perianal tumor were both moderately differentiated adenocarcinoma. Undiagnosed and retained foreign bodies may result in serious complications such as pneumonia, atelectasis, or bronchiectasis. In this report, the authors present a rare case of temporary bronchiectasis of the left lung due to a long-standing retained foreign body in a child. Interestingly, the whole left lung was affected due to the check valve type of obstruction of the main bronchus. Unexpected, unilateral findings on a chest x-ray or a CT scan could be related to an inhaled foreign body, and any delay in making the diagnosis may result in serious complications.

Choroid plexus papillomas (CPP) are rare intracranial tumours with a favourable long-term outcome after surgical excision. Although they are histologically benign, local recurrences may occasionally occur, but leptomeningeal dissemination is exceptional. This study investigated the nutritional effect of sunflower seed protein fraction (SSPF) extracted with isopropanol on growth, plasma and tissue lipid profile, protein content and erythrocyte membrane lipid profile of rats. Two cases of bursitis complicated by rice bodies (C.O., corpora oryzoidea) are described. One case occurred after local elbow trauma, in the other case tuberculous bursitis was found. C.O. is a rare manifestation of fibrinous inflammation, seen not only in TB but also, perhaps more frequently, in rheumatoid conditions. Removal of the bursa and C.O. followed by microscopic investigation is recommended.

A combination of salicylhydroxamic acid (SHAM) + cyanide (CN) is known to stimulate dark germination of Lactuca sativa L. seeds. Further studies were done to characterize SHAM and CN action in stimulating dark germination of lettuce seed. Radon seeds, formerly used for vascular and neoplastic tumors, acne, and other dermatological disorders, are rarely, if ever, used today. Because the half-life of radon is 3.83 days, these hollow gold seeds filled with radon gas are usually left in situ permanently. A case is reported of a woman who had seeds implanted 33 years ago for a vascular lesion. The seeds were removed and found to have minute amounts of residual radiation but not sufficient to cause radiation damage. Since seeds are foreign bodies, removal is recommended if they are easily accessible.
