Skin tattoos have been used for a long time but their toxicity remains little known to the general public who increasingly resort to these techniques without being informed of the risks involved, infectious, allergic, dermatological, systemic toxic and even ophthalmological. Nipple tattooing is a safe and effective technique for restoration of the nipple-areola complex following breast reconstruction and has a positive impact on patient well-being and body image. PURPOSE: We describe a single sitting modified technique of pterygium surgery along with corneal tattooing for combined cosmetic rehabilitation in eyes with corneal opacity and pterygium or pseudopterygium.

Paraphenylenediamine (PPD) is a potent skin allergen found in permanent hair dye and temporary henna tattoo ink. Several cases of adverse skin reactions to PPD have been reported in the literature. Here we present a case involving a patient who acquired a temporary tattoo while vacationing in Mexico and subsequently developed contact dermatitis at the tattoo site. Cosmetic tattoos, simulating makeup, have become very popular in the last decades; the technique of micropigmentation consists of implantation of pigment into the skin using a tattoo pen. The procedure can also be used to camouflage vitiligo, to mask scars, and as an adjunct to reconstructive surgery. Risks and complications include infections, allergic reactions, scarring, fanning, fading, and dissatisfaction about color and shape. Lasers offer the best cosmetic result for removal of unwanted tattoos.
