Potential Role of 3-Dimensional Printed Vascular Models in Maintenance Hemodialysis Care.

Infiltration of a surgically placed hemodialysis vascular access is recognized as a major contributor to the high health care costs associated with dialysis-dependent patients. Three-dimensional (3D) modeling is a critical tool for proceduralists in preparation for surgical interventions. No such modeling is currently available for dialysis specialists to avoid the common complication of vascular access infiltration. Ferumoxytol-enhanced magnetic resonance angiography was used to generate 3D image data that could render a 3D resin-based model of a vascular access without exposing the patient t

PdMo Bimetallene as a High-Performance Electrochemical Sensor for the Selective Detection of Dopamine.

Dopamine (DA) is a crucial catecholamine neurotransmitter, and its abnormal levels are closely associated with neurological disorders such as Parkinson's disease. Electrochemical sensing technology offers a rapid and cost-effective platform for DA detection; however, it often suffers from interference from coexisting biomolecules such as ascorbic acid (AA) and uric acid (UA). In this study, we report a novel electrochemical biosensor based on PdMo bimetallene, a nanomaterial synthesized via a facile wet-chemical approach, aiming to enhance the detection performance and selectivity for DA. PdMo

3D printing in rheumatology.

Three-dimensional (3D) printing, or additive manufacturing, revolutionises medicine by creating customised objects from digital models, layer by layer. In hospitals, technologies like Fused Deposition Modelling (FDM), stereolithography, and laser powder bed fusion are used, each offering unique advantages. Materials range from biocompatible polymers for orthoses to metal alloys for implants. FDM printers are affordable and suitable for prototyping but lack precision. Stereolithography provides high resolution and biocompatibility, ideal for medical devices, though postprocessing is required. P

Disordered vacancy-isolated Ce-Gd-O clusters achieve exceptional low-temperature oxygen-ion conductivity for fuel cells.

Oxygen-ion conductors are central to clean energy technologies. Conventional long-range-ordered oxide-ion conductors require high operating temperatures, which increase cost and limit durability; overcoming the low temperature conductivity gap is a long-standing challenge. We created cerium (Ce)-gadolinium (Gd)-oxygen (O) clusters by thermal-shock exfoliation of fluorite Gd0.1Ce0.9O1.95 and examined their structure and ion transport. These disordered, vacancy-isolated clusters form percolative oxygen-ion pathways without long-range order, delivering exceptional conductivity of 2.14 ± 0.09 siem
