Vaginal cancer is a rare entity. The evidence on its management resides mostly in clinical cases or small case series. Of the histological types, the most frequent is the squamous cell carcinoma, followed by adenocarcinoma. But what to do when identifying an even more infrequent sarcoma in a premenopausal woman? Extraovarian Brenner tumors are extremely rare. We report a case of vaginal Brenner tumor occurring in an 84-year-old woman. The tumor presented with vulvar irritation and soreness and consisted of a 1.8-cm polypoid mass arising from the lower third of the vagina. Microscopically, it had all the 3 components--urothelial islands, glands, and fibrous stroma--characteristic of a Brenner tumor. We suggest that vaginal Brenner tumors arise from a metaplastic process within the mullerian epithelium.

OBJECTIVE: Taking a biopsy is a standard procedure to make the correct diagnosis in patients with suspicious premalignant vulvar lesions. Vaginal leiomyoma is a rare solid tumour of unknown aetiology, which usually develops in women between the ages of 35 and 50. As it presents with a wide range of symptoms, diagnosis is based on histological findings. Here we present the case of a 27-year-old white woman with a painless vaginal mass associated with dyspareunia, dysmenorrhea and foul-smelling vaginal discharge. BACKGROUND: Vaginal leiomyoma is a rare tumor with a variable clinical presentation. The imaging features have not been described previously.
CASE: A 42-year-old nulligravida presented with a vaginal mass. Ultrasound demonstrated a solid, rather than cystic, mass. Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) showed a homogeneous lesion with a signal similar to that of the myometrium. Excision of a benign vaginal leiomyoma was performed without difficulty.

A case of vaginal rhabdomyoma in 35-year-old healthy woman is presented. The lesion, a pedunculated polyp measuring 1.2 cm in diameter, was located in the anterior wall of the vagina. This is an extremely rare entity that pursues a benign course. Light and immunohistochemical features are commented and selected literature briefly reviewed.

Morphometric parameters were measured and specific light optic features of epitheliocyte nuclei examined in the cytologic preparations from 67 patients with various abnormalities of the cervix uteri multi-layer squamous epithelium by a present-day long-distance microimage analyzer. The most informative biometric parameters were detected, role of DNA cytophotometry defined, and algorithm of differential diagnosis between benign conditions, dysplasia, and carcinoma developed.

A case is reported in which condylomata acuminata arose in a McIndoe neovagina. Histopathologic and virologic evidence are provided to support the characterization of these lesions as benign warty processes secondary to human papillomavirus-6. Factors influencing viral site specificity are discussed.
