The association between paced left ventricular activation time and cardiac reverse remodeling in heart failure patients with left bundle branch block.

INTRODUCTION: The association between paced LVAT and cardiac structure and function at baseline, as well as whether longer LVAT is associated with worse cardiac reverse remodeling in patients with heart failure (HF) and left bundle branch block (LBBB) has not been well investigated. The purpose of this study is to investigate the association between paced LVAT and baseline echocardiographic parameters and cardiac reverse remodeling at follow-up. METHODS: Patients with HF and LBBB receiving successful left bundle branch pacing (LBBP) from June 2018 to April 2023 were enrolled and grouped based

Peptidase Inhibitor 16 Attenuates Left Ventricular Injury and Remodeling After Myocardial Infarction by Inhibiting the HDAC1-Wnt3a-β-Catenin Signaling Axis.

Background Myocardial infarction (MI) is a cardiovascular disease with high morbidity and mortality. PI16 (peptidase inhibitor 16), as a sec … I16 transgenic mice showed decreased cardiomyocyte apoptosis at 24 hours after MI and improved left ventricular remodeling at 28 days after MI. Conversely, PI16 knockout mice showed aggravated infract size and remodeling. Mechanistically, PI16 downregulated Wnt3a (wingless-type MMTV integration site family, member 3a)/β-catenin pathways, and the antiapoptotic role of PI …

Late plasma exosome microRNA-21-5p depicts magnitude of reverse ventricular remodeling after early surgical repair of primary mitral valve regurgitation.

INTRODUCTION: Primary mitral valve regurgitation (MR) results from degeneration of mitral valve apparatus. Mechanisms leading to incomplete postoperative left ventricular (LV) reverse remodeling (Rev-Rem) despite timely and successful surgical mitral valve repair (MVR) remain unknown. Plasma exosomes (pEXOs) are smallest nanovesicles exerting early postoperative cardioprotection. We hypothesized that late plasma exosomal microRNAs (miRs) contribute to Rev-Rem during the late postoperative period. METHODS: Primary MR patients (n = 19; age, 45-71 years) underwent cardiac magnetic resonance imag

Knockdown of HDAC6 alleviates ventricular remodeling in experimental dilated cardiomyopathy via inhibition of NLRP3 inflammasome activation and promotion of cardiomyocyte autophagy.

Histone deacetylases (HDACs) has been implicated in cardiac diseases, while the role of HDAC6 in dilated cardiomyopathy (DCM) remains obscure. The in silico analyses predicted potential association of HDAC6 with autophagy-related genes and DCM. Thus, we evaluated the functional relevance of HDAC6 in DCM in vivo and in vitro. We developed a rat model in vivo and a cell model in vitro by doxorubicin (DOX) induction to simulate DCM. HDAC6 expression was determined in myocardial tissues of DCM rats. DCM rats exhibited elevated HDAC6 mRNA and protein expression as compared to sham-operated rats. We

Myocardial extracellular volume assessed by cardiovascular magnetic resonance may predict adverse left ventricular remodeling in rheumatic heart disease after valvular surgery.

BACKGROUND: Only a few studies to date have focused on the application of cardiovascular magnetic resonance (CMR) in rheumatic heart disease (RHD); in particular, research on the application of T1-mapping CMR sequences is limited. This study aimed to investigate whether diffuse myocardial fibrosis evaluated using preoperative T1 mapping and extracellular volume (ECV) fraction measurement could predict the progression of adverse left ventricular remodeling (LVR) after surgery. METHODS: A total of 32 adult patients with RHD and 30 healthy controls were recruited. Baseline clinical characteristi…

Assessment of right ventricular remodeling in chronic thromboembolic pulmonary hypertension by 2D-speckle tracking echocardiography: A comparison with cardiac magnetic resonance.

BACKGROUND: Right heart remodeling occurs in a substantial proportion of patients with chronic thromboembolic pulmonary hypertension (CTEPH) and significantly affects their prognosis. Two-dimensional speckle-tracking echocardiography (2D-STE) can be used to evaluate myocardial deformation under physiological and pathological conditions. This study aimed to assess the feasibility of 2D-STE for evaluating right ventricular (RV) remodeling in CTEPH patients. METHODS: This retrospective study included 21 CTEPH patients who underwent transthoracic echocardiography (TTE) and cardiac magnetic resona

Effects of gene knockdown of CNP on ventricular remodeling after myocardial ischemia-reperfusion injury through NPRB/Cgmp signaling pathway in rats.

Источник пометил публикацию как отозванную

This study aimed to explore effects of CNP on ventricular remodeling following myocardial ischemia-reperfusion (I/R) injury through the NPRB/cGMP signaling pathway. Rat cardiomyocytes were assigned into: control, I/R, I/R + CNP, and I/R + 8-Br-cGMP groups. ELISA, qRT-PCR, and Western blotting were used to detect cGMP content and expression, respectively. After model establishment of I/R rats, normal control, CNP-/- control, I/R, and CNP-/- groups were set. Indexes of heart were detected using echocardiography and hemodynamics. ELISA was used to measure serum CNP, cGMP, LDH, cTn I, CK-MB, TNF-α…

Sustained myocardial production of stromal cell-derived factor-1α was associated with left ventricular adverse remodeling in patients with myocardial infarction.

The role of stromal cell-derived factor-1α (SDF-1α) expressed in infarcted myocardium is unknown in humans. We examined whether SDF-1α produced in an infarcted myocardial lesion may play a role in left ventricle (LV) remodeling and dysfunction in patients with acute myocardial infarction (AMI). We measured SDF-1α levels in plasma obtained from aortic root (AO) and anterior interventricular vein (AIV) in the early phase (2 wk after MI) and the chronic phase (6 mo after MI) in 80 patients with anterior MI. An increment in SDF-1α level from AO to AIV, reflecting SDF-1α release from infarcted myoc

Inverse relationship between raft LRP1 localization and non-raft ERK1,2/MMP9 activation in idiopathic dilated cardiomyopathy: potential impact in ventricular remodeling.

BACKGROUND: Idiopathic dilated cardiomyopathy (IDCM) is characterized by adverse ventricular remodeling attributed to altered activity of extracellular matrix metalloproteinase (MMP). MMP overactivation is linked to changes in extracellular signal-regulated kinases (ERK), reportedly modulated by the low-density lipoprotein receptor-related protein 1 (LRP1) receptor. The aim of this work was to compare the levels, membrane distribution and interactions of LRP1, ERK1,2 and MMP2/9 in control and IDCM myocardium. METHODS: Left ventricle samples from IDCM patients and control subjects were collect…

Obesity, hypertension, and tobacco use associated with left ventricular remodeling and hypertrophy in South African women: Birth to Twenty Plus Cohort.

BACKGROUND: Left ventricular hypertrophy (LVH) is a marker of increased risk in developing future life-threatening cardiovascular disease (CVD), however, it is unclear how CVD risk factors, such as obesity, blood pressure (BP), and tobacco use, are associated with left ventricular (LV) remodeling and LVH in urban African populations. Therefore, we aimed to identify the prevalence of LVH as well as the health factors associated with LV remodeling and LVH, within black South African adult women and their pre-pubescent children. METHODS: Black female adults (n = 123; age: 29-68 years) and their

Prospective associations of circulating thrombospondin-2 level with heart failure hospitalization, left ventricular remodeling and diastolic function in type 2 diabetes.

BACKGROUND: Circulating thrombospondin-2 (TSP2) levels were associated with the development of heart failure (HF) in recent studies. However, these studies included only a minority of patients with type 2 diabetes, which is associated with an increased HF risk. As hyperglycemia induces TSP2 expression and its tissue expression increases in type 2 diabetes, we investigated the prospective association of circulating TSP2 with incident HF hospitalization (HHF), and its associations with longitudinal changes of echocardiographic parameters in type 2 diabetes. METHODS: Baseline serum TSP2 levels w
