A dissection table ventilation system that draws air across the cadaver and away from the table top was designed to fit the Shandon-Lipshaw … section, and above a tray on the table top containing a known volume of 4% formaldehyde or the West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine embalming fluid under varying airflow conditions. The results demonstrate that the table ventilation system is effective in reducing exposure to formaldehyde in the dissection laboratory.

Between 1970 and 1986, 1651 biopsy specimens from the oral cavity or lips with a diagnosis of epithelial dysplasia were accessioned by the Medical College of Virginia Oral Pathology Diagnostic Service (Richmond, VA). Of the four histologic grades of epithelial dysplasia (focal mild, mild, moderate, and severe), most of the cases were diagnosed as mild (54.1%) and the fewest (8.1%) were in the severe category. The treatment of 102 patients with squamous cell carcinoma of the pyriform sinus seen at the University of Virginia Medical Center from 1958 through 1977 is reviewed. This study investigates the relationship between adverse childhood experiences (ACEs) and firearm storage practices among adults in firearm-owning households using data from the 2023 Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance System (BRFSS) across Nevada, New Jersey, Oregon, and Virginia. Hair loss is a primary reason for women with skin of color to seek dermatologic care. In addition to physical disfigurement, patients with hair loss are more likely to report feelings of depression, anxiety, and low self-esteem. Twenty-two cases of feline histoplasmosis seen at the Virginia-Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine Teaching Hospital between 1986 and 2009 were reviewed.
