Factors are examined in this report which govern the uniqueness and sensitivity of regional cerebral blood flow (rCBF), as determined by an in vivo autoradiographic strategy and positron emission tomography (PET), and a series of theorems is derived which specify conditions under which a unique relationship between cumulative cranial activity of the tracer (C) and regional blood flow (f) may be assured. Metabolic turnover of collagen in the developing molar periodontal ligament was studied in 10, 12 and 16 days old mice by autoradiography after the administration of [3H]proline. Grain counts, in number per unit area, were made over three different zones (apical, middle and cervical) of the sections and activity time curves were drawn. This paper reports light and electron microscope radioautographic studies of the sites of gastrin synthesis and the paths of intracellular migration of secretory granules in G-cells of rat glandular stomach incubated in vitro with 3H-glutamic acid and/or 3H-glycine at pH 8.2 or 2.5. Although the ultrastructural preservation of tissues maintained in pH 2.5 medium deteriorated within 30 minutes after beginning incubation, morphological observation was possible at least 60 minutes in the pH 8.2 medium. At 5 minutes, silver grains were few, and located chiefly over granular endoplasmic reticulum.

The projection patterns from different visual areas of the parieto-occipital cortex to the claustrum were studied autoradiographically in cats. When [3H]proline was injected into 17, 18, 19 or Clare-Bishop areas, the label was transported to an area restricted to the dorsal and caudal parts of the claustrum without any suggestion of retinotopic organization. Plutonium-241 citrate solution at pH 6-5 was injected intravenously into hamsters and an adult rabbit at a dose of 10 kBq g-1 (260 nCi g-1). The hamsters were killed serially at 15 min, 2 hours, 1 day, 10 days, 1 month and 6 months after injection and the rabbit at 1 week. Exposure of normal human skin in vivo to ultraviolet irradiation at wavelengths shorter than 320 nanometers stimtulated an unscheduled DNA synthesis in all of the cell layers of the epidermis and in the upper dermnial fibrocytes. The skin of patients with xeroderma pigmentosum did not show this response. correlation of these findings with previous tissue culture studies suggests that the defect in repair of the damaged DNA in xeroderma cells occurs in vivo as well as in vitro.

Structure-activity relationship studies were performed on a library of synthesized compounds based on previously identified tau ligands. The top 13 new compounds had Ki values in the range of 5-14 nM in Alzheimer's disease (AD), progressive supranuclear palsy (PSP), and corticobasal degeneration (CBD) post-mortem brain tissues.
