Necrotizing fasciitis is a potentially fatal condition that can affect any part of the body. It can occur after trauma, around foreign bodies in surgical wounds, or can be idiopathic. Although mammography remains the most widely used tool for the early detection of breast cancers and evaluation of palpable abnormalities, a number of other imaging tools are being developed and used. Infection is the leading cause of morbidity that occurs after breast implantation and complicates 2.0-2.5% of interventions in most case series. Myoepitheliomas are typically benign tumours arising from exocrine glands. There have only been five reports of malignant myoepitheliomas from breast origin previously published in the English literature. This report describes a patient with myoepithelioma arising in the breast which later metastasized despite the primary tumour having benign histological features. Our objective was to study the color and pulse Doppler ultrasonography of phyllodes tumors of the breast. The data of 36 phyllodes tumors (19 benign, 5 borderline, and 12 malignant) were reviewed retrospectively. The median age of the patients was 41.5 years (range 13-62 years), and the tumors varied in size from 1.5 to 20 cm (median 4.6 cm). A 36-year-old woman presented with a 10 mm diameter mass in the right breast. Since the mass persisted for 3 months after detection and mammary carcinoma was suspected based on ultrasonographic findings, the mass was resected. Histologically, the mass demonstrated proliferative margins and consisted of spindle cells with bland cytologic features and abundant collagen.
