BACKGROUND: Idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF) has high mortality worldwide. The CD247 molecule (CD247, as known as T-cell surface glycoprotein CD3 zeta chain) has been reported as a susceptibility locus in systemic sclerosis, but its correlation with IPF remains unclear.
METHODS: Datasets were acquired by researching the Gene Expression Omnibus (GEO). Chronic lymphocytic leukaemia (CLL) is associated with immunosuppression. The activation of CLL cells induced by interaction with other cell types, particularly activated T-cells, within the tumour micro-environment is thought to be important for CLL progression. However it is unclear whether activated CLL cells (CLL(Act)) have immunosuppressive capacity. We report that co-culture of CLL cells with normal PBMC in the context of CD3/CD28 T-cell activation generates CLL(Act) with increased CD38 expression that are capable of suppressing the proliferative responses of both CD4+ and CD8+ T-cells.

A 4-year-old boy with hypochondroplasia was admitted to our clinic with complaints of bronchopneumonia. He also had immune deficiency characterized by low CD3, CD4 T-lymphocyte subsets and a low level of serum immunoglobulin A (IgA). The diagnosis of hypochondroplasia was made on clinical, radiological, and laboratory findings by the pediatric endocrinology department. The focus of our study is hypochondroplasia associated with immune deficiency which was unpublished in English medical literature previously.

Canine lymphoma is the neoplasm most often treated by chemotherapy, yet there are few data to correlate response to therapy with its different subtypes. This study is based on biopsy specimens from 992 dogs for which lymphoma was the clinical diagnosis. All cases were phenotyped by immunohistochemistry for CD3 and CD79alpha. BACKGROUND: Apoptosis is a highly controlled process of cell death that can be induced by periodontopathogens. The present study aimed to investigate the expression of Fas and Bcl-2 proteins by CD3+ T cells in vitro under stimulation by total Porphyromonas gingivalis antigens and purified recombinant P. gingivalis HmuY protein.
RESULTS: CD3+ T cells derived from CP patients and stimulated with HmuY expressed higher levels of Bcl-2 compared to identical cells stimulated with P. gingivalis crude extract or cells derived from NP control subjects (p = 0.043).

Pseudolymphomatous folliculitis is a rare entity. We present a 62-year-old man with a recurrent solitary nodule on his nose requiring multiple excisions. Analysis of the immune system of spiny mice (Acomys cahirinus) has been limited. Originally grouped with Mus, Acomys has recently been placed closer to Meriones (gerbils). This study compared immunity in Acomys, Mus, and Meriones. Lymphocytes from all rodents examined proliferated in response to mitogen and superantigen stimulation.
