An improved skin chamber technique has been devised and used for quantitative evaluation of the leukocyte mobilization rate (LMR). The method was applied in 10 nickel-hypersensitive patients exposed to nickel sulphate. Each patient served as his own control and for additional control purpose, 5 healthy individuals without nickel hypersensitivity were studied. The cell-mediated immunity in typhoid was assessed by the leukocyte migration inhibition test and delayed hypersensitivity skin test in 60 clinical typhoid patients. The property of leukocyte migration inhibition appeared first and was positive in 28 of 60 (46.7%) patients on admission and 45 of 60 (75%) at the time of discharge. The Authors have examined 10 cases of severe malnourished children (7 cases of kwashiorkor, 2 cases of marasmus, 1 case of marasmic kwashiorkor). Experiments were carried in order to detect endotoxemia by means of Limulus test, bacteremia with blood cultures and possible effects of plasma on leucocyte migration by Leucocytes Migration Agarose Test (LMAT). Cell-mediated immune responses to a protein fraction of human bile have been demonstrated, using the leucocyte migration test, in eight out of 10 patients with primary biliary cirrhosis but in only three out of nine with active chronic hepatitis. OBJECTIVE: Cancer cells frequently exploit the Pentose Phosphate Pathway (PPP) to fuel antioxidant defenses and the synthesis of essential biomolecular precursors. It is hypothesized that sustained upregulation of glucose flux through the PPP is crucial for meeting the anabolic demands of cancer cells and mitigating oxidative stress. We investigated whether pharmacological inhibition of the rate-limiting PPP enzyme, glucose 6-phosphate dehydrogenase (G6PD), could decrease proliferation, disrupt cell-cell interactions, and impede migration in oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC).

A fractionated pancreatic antigen was prepared using a monoclonal antibody, SP3-1, which reacts with the duct cells of various exocrine organs. The cell-mediated immune response to this antigen was studied by the leukocyte migration inhibition test (LMT) in patients with chronic pancreatitis (CP), Sjögren's syndrome (SjS), and chronic sialoadenitis (CSA). Leukocyte migration inhibition (LMI) and T lymphocyte counts were used as measures of cell mediated immunity in 37 patients with rhinosporidiosis and 18 healthy individuals. LMI was higher in all the patients than the normal controls, and it was maximal in patients with infection of 3-9 years' duration. When the chronicity of infection exceeded 10 years, there was a fall in LMI response although it was still more than that of the normal controls.
