BACKGROUND: Globally, one in four adults does not meet the WHO-recommended at least 150 min of moderate intensity physical activity per week. Insufficient physical activity is the fourth-leading risk factor, contributing to 9% of global premature mortality. Physical activity is effective in weight management, cardiorespiratory fitness, and enhancing the quality of life. A high proportion (43.1%) of people living in semi-urban areas of Nepal have insufficient physical activity. Limited evidence shows a lack of knowledge and motivation as major barriers to physical activity in Nepal. Female Comm

Task-shifting of combination sexual health services from clinicians to community workers has been well-studied in low-resource settings, but lacks empirical examination as a response to service inequities in North American community-based AIDS service organisations (ASOs). This study adopts a qualitative exploratory approach to understanding how ASOs may support task-shifting for gay, bisexual and other men who have sex with men (GBMSM), drawing from interviews (n = 33) with clinicians and community workers in southern Ontario. Results include intra-organisational (including resource supports,

BACKGROUND & OBJECTIVES: Structural interventions have the capacity to improve the outcomes of HIV/AIDS interventions by changing the social, economic, political or environmental factors that determine risk and vulnerability. Marginalized groups face disproportionate barriers to health, and sex workers are among those at highest risk of HIV in India. Evidence in India and globally has shown that sex workers face violence in many forms ranging from verbal, psychological and emotional abuse to economic extortion, physical and sexual violence and this is directly linked to lower levels of condom

This scoping review aimed to synthesise current evidence related to psycho-social groups as part of community-based mental health interventions in South Asia. We used a realist lens to pay attention to the contexts and mechanisms supporting positive outcomes. We included studies published from January 2007 to February 2022 that: were based in communities in South Asia, included a group component, reported on interventions with a clear psychosocial component, targeted adults and were implemented by lay community health workers. Two reviewers extracted data on intervention components, groups and…

BACKGROUND: Afghanistan and Nigeria are two of the three remaining polio endemic countries. While these two countries have unique sociocultural characteristics, they share major polio risk factors. This paper describes the countries' shared contexts and highlights important lessons on implementing polio eradication activities among hard-to-reach populations relevant for future global health programs.
METHODS: A grey literature review of the Global Polio Eradication Initiative (GPEI) followed by an online survey was conducted in both countries. The survey was targeted to individuals who have b
