Dentigerous cyst is a type of odontogenic cysts and generally occurs in the ages of twenties or thirties. Dentigerous cyst always includes a tooth which cannot complete the eruption process and occurs around the crown by the fluid accumulation between the layers of enamel organ. In rare cases, dentigerous cyst occurs in the first decade of life and develops in an immature permanent tooth as a result of a chronic inflammation of overlying nonvital primary tooth. In this report, a case of dentigerous cyst in primary dentition in a 5-year-old child patient and its treatment were presented. The de

Single or multiple semispherical to bilobulated fluid-filled cystic structures of variable size were observed on the dorsal aspects of the urinary bladder of four male and two female ferrets (Mustela putorius furo). All ferrets had been neutered. On physical examination, the cysts were palpated as caudal abdominal masses. Three of the six ferrets presented with dysuria, and two ferrets had signs compatible with endocrine dysfunction. Adrenal cortical hyperplasia or neoplasia were observed in all of the five ferrets examined. Sex hormones assayed in one of the six ferrets revealed elevated leve

Supratentorial extra-axial arachnoidal cysts are congenital benign formations of intracranial location filled with cerebrospinal fluid. The clinical symptomatology of arachnoidal cysts depended on the age of the patient and presence of complications. The pathogenetically justified surgical method of treatment of arachnoidal cysts in children is excision of cyst wall, emptying of its cavity, creation of shunt with the subarachnoidal spaces and basal cisternae in association with cystoperitoneostomy. In the adult patients additional cystoperitoneotomy is not performed.

Clinical pictures and histopathological findings in 15 patients of tubal cyst following tubal sterilization were analyzed. The interval between tubal sterilization and occurrence of tubal cyst was 10 years (ranged from 4 to 21 years). Clinically 8 cases (53%) suffered from lower abdominal pain, 5 cases (33%) from hypermenorrhea coexistent with uterine myoma and 2 cases (13%) from irregular menstruation. Five out of 9 patients with ultrasound examination were suspected to have tubal cyst before operation. The size of tubal cyst ranged from 1.5 to 9.0 cm in diameter with mean 3.4 cm. Eleven were

The dentigerous cyst is a developmental odontogenic cyst, which apparently develops by accumulation of fluid between reduced enamel epithelium and the tooth crown of an unerupted tooth. It is one of the most prevalent types of odontogenic cysts associated with erupted, developing, or impacted tooth, particularly the mandibular third molars, the other teeth that are commonly affected are maxillary canines. The present case report is unique as it enclosed three permanent maxillary teeth: the central incisor, lateral incisor, and canine that had to be extracted during surgical enucleation of the

Arachnoid cysts are fluid-filled duplications or splittings of the arachnoid layer with a content which is similar but not equal to the cerebrospinal fluid. Arachnoid cysts are not actual neurodegenerative disorders, rather the underlying defect of the texture of the arachnoid layer is probably congenital in nature. They can occur sporadically or can be associated with other malformations or diseases. Arachnoid cysts may be discovered in early childhood. However, they can develop de novo, grow or decrease in size. They may be diagnosed by ultrasound screening in the fetal period or be discover

The authors describe the computed tomography (CT) and magnetic resonance (MR) imaging findings of a 69-year-old woman and a 69-year-old man with a nonfunctional mediastinal parathyroid cyst. In the described cases, unenhanced CT showed homogeneous areas of water density, and unenhanced MRI showed homogeneous areas that were isointense to cerebrospinal fluid, reflecting their serous fluid contents. Both cysts were located posterior to the left lower pole of the thyroid gland with an extension to the superior mediastinum, either anterior or posterior to the left brachiocephalic vein. CT and MR i

INTRODUCTION: The frequency of parathyroid cysts in patients with primary hyperparathyroidism is from 1 to 2 %. Nowadays, parathyroid cysts remain a difficult diagnostic and therapeutic task.
PRESENTATION OF CASE: A 57-year-old woman was referred to an endocrine surgeon to evaluate a presence of a mass in the left lateral region of the neck, the appearance of shortness of breath. In the biochemical analysis of the patient's blood, the serum ionized calcium level was increased - 1.53 mmol/l, parathyroid hormone - 149.6 pg/ml. Ultrasound and MSCT scan of the neck showed the presence of a fluid

Kidney cysts in autosomal dominant polycystic kidney disease (ADPKD) undergo progressive enlargement together with luminal fluid secretion. This involves active, uphill transcellular Cl(-) transport which drives passive Na(+) and water secretion. Implicit in this mechanism is the assumption that the paracellular permeability of the cyst epithelium to Cl(-) must be very low. Claudins are tight junction (TJ) transmembrane proteins that determine the ion selectivity of paracellular barriers. The aim of this study was to determine the expression and localization of claudins within renal cysts in a

Ultrasound is a low-cost, nonionizing, readily available diagnostic technique for the evaluation of tendons, muscles, soft tissue masses, cysts, and other fluid collections. Ultrasound is also a valuable tool for guiding a variety of musculoskeletal interventions. Procedures that can be performed under ultrasound guidance include aspiration of fluid for analysis, injection for medication, decompression of cysts, drainage of abscess and hematoma, biopsy, treatment of calcified tendinitis, and foreign body retrieval.

INTRODUCTION: Cystic echinococcosis (CE) is a zoonotic infection caused by the larvae of Echinococcus granulosus. Studies have indicated an indirect relationship between infection with parasites and many types of cancer, especially digestive tumors.
AIM: The following study aims to evaluate the anticancer activity of two antigens extracted from hydatid cyst antigens (extracted from cyst fluid and protoscoleces) of Echinococcus granulosus on the growth and proliferation of colorectal cancer cells compared to normal cells, and study their mechanism of action by DNA damage and protein expression…

Subadventitial cyst of the popliteal artery is a well known entity. We report a new case and the diagnostic and therapeutic advantages of noninvasive explorations. Transcutaneous duplex-scan provided diagnosis and showed cystic formations in contact with a segmentary occlusion of the popliteal artery. Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) evidenced communication between the cysts and the articular capsule of the knee joint. Surgical exeresis confirmed the communication with the synovial fluid. This observation demonstrated: i) the contribution of duplex-scan for the diagnosis of adventitial cysts a

We report a case of multiple, simple bone cysts in long tubular, short tubular, and flat bones. The internal pressure of the cysts and the oxygen tension of cyst fluid were measured simultaneously. These values were similar to those of typical solitary cysts in other patients. Curettage and bone graft onto the calcaneal cyst were effective, although steroid injection therapy into the metacarpal cyst had no effect. Piercing the ulnar and radial cysts a number of times was uniformly effective. These results may suggest that venous obstruction of the lesions play an important role in the etiology…

Fourth ventricular arachnoid cysts are rare and optimal surgical management remains unclear. We describe a flexible endoscopic trans-third ventricular technique for the treatment of fourth ventricular arachnoid cysts associated with obstructive hydrocephalus. Through a frontal approach, a flexible neuroendoscope is advanced via the foramen of Monro and third ventricle into the dilated cerebral aqueduct, allowing access to the fourth ventricle. Cyst fenestration is performed using biopsy forceps and a balloon catheter, and communication with surrounding cerebrospinal fluid spaces can be establi

Pericardial cysts are rare. They are often asymptomatic mediastinal abnormalities, which are usually congenital. If symptomatic differential diagnosis can pose a diagnostic challenge since it has to consider the different causes of pericardial effusion including malignant forms. In 2 symptomatic female patients (aged 51 and 58 years) pericardiocentesis, pericardioscopy and pericardial fluid analysis confirmed the diagnosis of "spring water cysts." Pericardioscopy excluded protrusions, petechial bleeding, neovascularization or inflammation. Application of contrast media into the cyst confirmed

The nature of 103 intra-abdominal fluid collections examined by ultrasound was determined by autopsy, needle aspiration, spontaneous drainage or surgical exploration. Abscesses, chronic hematomas, lymphoceles, urinomas, cysts and fluid-filled bowel loops are all approximately elliptical or circular in cross section. Collections of ascites have a very irregular outline. Bowel loops appear as multiple circles, all of similar size. Chronic hematomas contain strongly echoing material, while lymphoceles, urinomas, renal and hepatic cysts and collections of ascites are echo-free. Ovarian cysts into

Hydatid disease is an endemic and common zoonosis in India. Liver is the most common site of infection. However, extra hepatic primary pancreatic hydatid cyst is rare. We report a case of primary hydatid cyst in the tail of pancreas compressing the adjacent organs in a 43-year-old male who presented with abdominal mass and was diagnosed as pancreatic cyst/splenic cyst by ultrasonography. Computed tomography of abdomen revealed a large cystic lesion in the tail of pancreas suggestive of a pseudocyst of pancreas. The case was managed surgically by splenectomy and distal pancreatectomy with alben

Although most of sacral perineural cysts are asymptomatic, some may produce symptoms. Specific radicular pain may be due to distortion, compression, or stretching of nerve root by a space occupying cyst. We report a rare case of S1 radiculopathy caused by sacral perineural cyst accompanying disc herniation. The patient underwent a microscopic discectomy at L5-S1 level. However, the patient's symptoms did not improved. The hypesthesia persisted, as did the right leg pain. Cyst-subarachnoid shunt was set to decompress nerve root and to equalize the cerebrospinal fluid pressure between the cephal

BACKGROUND AND IMPORTANCE: Intracranial arachnoid cysts are benign cerebrospinal fluid-filled sacs that occur in 2.6% of children and 1.4% of adults. Suprasellar arachnoid cysts (SACs) represent between 9% and 21% of pediatric arachnoid cysts. These are often confused with the less common third ventricular cysts (3VCs). Both can grow and cause obstructive hydrocephalus, requiring urgent treatment. The aim of surgical treatment was to re-establish cerebrospinal fluid circulation. In this article, we describe and contrast the imaging characteristics of SAC and 3VC, and show stepwise endoscopic s
