OBJECTIVE: To assess cochlear involvement and hearing loss in patients with Behçet's disease (BD).
METHOD: Forty-two patients with BD and 24 sex and age matched healthy subjects were included in the study. pure-tone audiometry including high frequencies (250-16000Hz) and DPOAE were performed to all participants. Results of the audiological evaluation were compared and correlation between the audiologic status and clinical manifestations of the BD were investigated.

Authors present two cases of children with reccurent meningitis and unilateral deafness. Implemented diagnostics (CT, NMR, ABR) revealed one side inner ear congenital malformation in one case and anterior fossa bony defect accompanied by labirynthine deformation in the other case. A rare case of polyotia in a 7-year old boy associated with first arch syndrome is reported. The accessory auricle formed a well defined helix and conchal bowl located anterior to a normal auricle and an atretic external auditory meatus. Complete avulsion of the external ear, much less common than other minor ear trauma, presents a complex and difficult problem. The authors present a 35-year-old male cigarette smoker who suffered traumatic avulsion of the right ear, and describe the replantation procedure and the patient's postoperative course. Aesthetic positioning of the replanted ear, treating the external auditory meatus, protecting the ear against exposure to the sun, and counseling the patient about issues related to sensation are important factors in the care of patients who have undergone such a procedure.

The discharging ear is a common presenting symptom to GPs and otologists. The commonest causes are otitis externa and otitis media. Less common is cholesteatoma, which presents with a chronic offensive mucopurulent discharge and deafness. Acute mastoiditis as a presenting symptom of cholesteatoma is rare and, with the introduction of antibiotics, the incidence has declined even further. We present three cases of cholesteatoma presenting as mastoiditis.
