BACKGROUND: Plaque psoriasis is a chronic dermatologic autoimmune disease that affects adults and children. Roflumilast 0.3% cream is currently the only topical phosphodiesterase 4 inhibitor indicated for the treatment of plaque psoriasis in patients 12 years or older.

UNLABELLED: Choice of the donor site for a split thickness skin graft depends on skin availability, possible complications and anticipated esthetic results. We selected the scalp to be the primary donor site at our institution. During a period of ten years (1998-2008), a group of 123 pediatric patients aged 4 months to 15 years (65% were below the age of 2; mean age 2.98 years) underwent skin grafting from this particular site. A 17-month-old boy with a toed-out left lower extremity was presented for evaluation. Before coming to the doctor, the mother had applied a zinc oxide lotion to treat a simple diaper rash in the groin. The radiologist did not remove the boy's diaper for the radiographic examination and so did not notice the lotion. The first radiograph showed what looked like multiple soft-tissue calcifications in the groin, but the radiopacities had been produced by the zinc oxide. This case serves as a reminder to be aware that metal-containing substances both on and in the body can produce radiopacities.

BACKGROUND: Actinic or solar keratoses are the earliest form of cancerous lesions that are found in sun-exposed areas of the body. Treatment involves eliminating the lesions before they have a chance to progress. Mainstay therapies include curettage, cryosurgery, and topical 5-fluorouracil.
