BACKGROUND: Given the incubation period of viral diseases, a secondary blood test should be performed at least 3-6 months after the first test to ensure the safety of allogenic bone grafts obtained from living donors in some tissue banks. The allograft is discarded if a secondary blood test was unavailable. The secondary blood test can be replaced with a nucleic acid amplification test (NAT) to reduce the discarded allograft. The purpose of this study was to analyze the comparative efficiency of secondary blood test and NAT to determine the donor suitability of allogenic bone grafts.

Cutaneous leishmaniasis is found in all the four provinces of Pakistan; these are NWFP, Balochistan, Sindh and Punjab. In Balochistan the areas from where the patients came are Uthal, Quetta and Ormara. The highest number of patients came from Quetta and least from Ormara. The pattern of time courses of changes in the basic parameters of homeostasis has been studied in premature neonates with respiratory disorders of varying severity in early neonatality. It is shown that in premature neonates with respiratory distress syndrome, all links of the hemostatic system occur and the activity of the major pool of anticoagulants (antithrombin III and protein C) decreases. The most informative indices are proposed for monitoring hemostatic parameters as determination of basic tests, the levels of protein C, D-dimer, and SFMC.

von Willebrand disease (VWD) is the commonest inherited bleeding disorder. However, despite an increasing understanding of the pathophysiology of VWD, the diagnosis of VWD is frequently difficult because of uncertainty regarding the relationship between laboratory assays and function in vivo. The objective of this guideline is to provide contemporary advice on a rational approach to the diagnosis of VWD. This is the second edition of this UK Haemophilia Centre Doctors' Organisation (UKHCDO) guideline and supersedes the previous edition which was published in 1997.
