Eccrine angiomatous hamartoma (EAH) is a rare tumoral lesion that consists of vascular and eccrine malformation and often occurs in the distal extremities of children. Although EAH is benign, a therapeutic excision may be required for symptomatic or cosmetic considerations. We hereby report a typical case of EAH presenting as a painful and rapidly growing plaque on the right thigh. The associated symptoms of pain, hyperhidrosis and local hypertrichosis caused walking difficulties until the patient was cured by two excisional surgeries.

A left ovarian gynandroblastoma in a 24-year-old woman was clinically manifest by prolonged (7 years) amenorrheas interrupted by metrorrhagies, with moderate hypertrichosis is presented. An important urinary elimination of estrogens (1.500 gamma/24 h) and of 17-ketosteroids (25 gamma/24 h) with normal 17-OH and gonadotrophins were evidenced. The microscopic examination of the operated tumor showed structures of a granulous tumor intermingled with arrhenoblastomatous structures. Restoration of the patient's sexual biological conditions.

This case report describes a case of H syndrome with characteristic cutaneous hyperpigmentation, hypertrichosis, sclerodermatous thickening, and multisystem involvement such as hearing loss and heart anomaly in an Indian patient. There are around 100 cases of this rare, autosomal recessive genodermatosis reported in the literature, out of which 10 cases are from the Indian population. The aim of this paper is to increase awareness about this novel inherited form of histiocytosis and insist on the role of dermatologists to identify such patients in our population where consanguinity is prevalen…

Becker's melanosis is a relatively common, benign hamartoma, which is usually characterized by a hyperpigmented, hypertrichotic patch on the upper trunk or proximal upper extremities of males, with its onset during the peripubertal years. Commonly, there is an associated smooth muscle hamartoma on histology. We present a woman with a Becker's melanosis on the leg without hypertrichosis. We believe that the spectrum of Becker's nevus is greater than commonly thought and that cases similar to ours are not rare, but have been diagnosed as other conditions.

A 9-year-old girl was diagnosed as having a linear sebaceous nevus syndrome (LSNS). The nevus sebaceus was located on the face, and the girl also had nevoid hypertrichosis on the neck, sensorineural deafness, partial anodontia, blocked tear ducts, labiopalatoschisis, and an area of micropolygyria in the left encephalic (cerebral) hemisphere. Electroencephalographic alterations were detected, but they were not accompanied by a history of seizures; furthermore, the child was not mentally retarded. This phenotypic pattern of LSNS is unusual for the rarity of associated abnormalities.

The purpose of this article is to show that abnormal hair-growth associated with malignancy (acquired hypertrichosis) is probably caused by a peptide hormone which remains to be detected by examining serum, skin, and tumour specimens of affected patients. The condition was first described in 1865, and the whole literature between 1879 and 1994 is reviewed in Index Medicus and Medline. The hypothesis that a peptide hormone is the cause is supported by the condition's rapid onset, remission with tumour removal, electronmicroscopical appearance of specimens, and results in the experimental model …

The skin can provide clues to the well-being of our patients. Some skin changes, such as hypertrichosis lanuginosa acquisita or erythema gyratum repens, are so specific that there is a virtual certainty of internal malignancy. Other changes, such as severe pruritus, are significant management problems in late-stage lymphoma and leukemia. Still others, such as herpes zoster in a cancer patient in remission, may be a marker for recurrent malignant disease. This review will discuss many of the skin changes associated with systemic cancer.

Nonspecific dermatologic problems occasionally associated with malignant disease include pruritus, reactive erythemas and skin infections. Frequently associated with internal neoplasms are acanthosis nigricans, dermatomyositis, rapid development of multiple seborrheic keratoses, hypertrichosis lanuginosa and other syndromes. Skin metastases may be the first signs of internal cancer. The most common visceral primaries are the lung and colon in men and the breast, colon and ovary in women. Recognizing these lesions can lead to early diagnosis and improved prognosis.
