Monoclonal antibody 38S1 was radiobrominated with the positron emitter (76)Br (T(1/2) = 16.2 h). Indirect labeling was performed using N-succinimidyl para-(tri-methylstannyl)benzoate (SPMB) as the precursor molecule. SPMB was labeled using Chloramine-T yielding N-succinimidyl para-[(76)Br]bromobenzoate, which was then conjugated to the antibody. A cyclative cleavage strategy for the synthesis of cyclic imides on a polystyrene resin is described. After optimization of the cleavage conditions, a small array of succinimides and phthalimides was synthesized. The methodology was then applied to a drug discovery project, in which it was used to synthesize a new class of delta-opioid receptor ligand by both automated and manual methods.

A rapid, simple and sensitive high-performance liquid chromatographic method for the determination of captopril in plasma has been developed. Captopril is derivatized with a new reagent, 2-bromo-2'-acetonaphthone to form a product that showed ultraviolet-absorbing properties. The structural characteristics of Z-DNA were used to challenge the selectivity of guanine oxidation promoted by nickel and cobalt reagents. The potential utility of a pulse dose of a deuterium-labeled isotopomer (FLU-D(4)) in elucidating the pharmacokinetics of fluphenazine (FLU) at steady state was investigated in dogs. The method for the identification of Brucella (genus) and shigellae (species) by using slide agglutination of antibody erythrocytic immune reagents is substantiated. A method was developed for solid-phase extraction of two chlorotriazine herbicide metabolites, deethylatrazine (DEA) and deisopropylatrazine (DIA), from aqueous samples. Two C18 phases in cartridge format were compared and recoveries were found to be highly sensitive to sorbent amount, sample volume and presence of parent compounds. [18F]-N-succinimidyl 4-(fluoromethyl)benzoate (1) has been prepared from N-succinimidyl-4-[(4-nitrobenzensulfonyl)oxymethyl]benzoate (2) in one step using Kryptofix 2.2.2/[18F-]. The effect of solvents, potassium salts and temperatures were studied to determine optimum labeling condition. The best results were obtained using carbonate as the counter ion and acetone as the solvent at room temperature. The results are discussed of studies on oxyhemoglobin coagulation in neutral phosphate buffer and acidic acetate buffer at pH ranging from 5.85 to 4.90. Peculiarities are shown of the effect of strong complexon on the oxyhemoglobin-coagulum-mercuric acetate system in neutral tris-buffer.
