A 69-year-old man who had a history of several nasal hemorrhages and transfusions presented with hereditary hemorrhagic telangiectasia. Consumption of dietary aluminum (A1, 2000 or 4000 ppm) for 1 month did not influence mouse body weight. In order to estimate an absorption of cadmium (Cd) from the gastrointestinal tract, mice were intubated twice every 24 h with Cd (CdCl2). Alveolar capillary dysplasia with misalignment of pulmonary veins (ACDMPV) is an interstitial lung disease. In ACDMPV, respiratory impairment with severe pulmonary hypertension occurs from the early hours of life. We report a case of carcinoid syndrome requiring an emergency operation for an upper gastrointestinal perforation. A 46-year-old man had undergone left lower lobectomy for a lung carcinoid tumor seven years previously, and liver metastasis was found five years previously. He developed cutaneous flushing and watery diarrhea, and was diagnosed with carcinoid syndrome one year previously. Although he was treated with octreotid, his symptoms became worse and he was admitted to our hospital. AIMS: To perform an independent review of the quality and safety of colonoscopy service at the Canterbury Charity Hospital (CCH).
METHODS: Demographic, endoscopy and histology data on all colonoscopies performed at CCH between 1 October 2016 and 31 September 2017 were collected. Quality indicators ascertained were caecal intubation rate, mean withdrawal time and adenoma detection rate (ADR). These were assessed using current recommendations by the Joint American College of Gastroenterology and American Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy task force.

Henoch-Schönlein purpura (HSP) is the most common form of vasculitis found in the pediatric population. The most common presenting complaint for children with HSP is a purpuric rash on the lower extremities. Many other organ systems beyond the skin can be involved for children with HSP. We report a case of a 7-year-old girl with HSP who presented with status epilepticus and onset of rash 2 weeks after her initial symptoms.
