The association of hairy cell leukemia (HCL) with other neoplasms, mainly non-Hodgkin's lymphomas, is well known. However, the simultaneous diagnosis of HCL and chronic lymphocytic leukemia/small lymphocytic lymphoma (CLL/SLL) is rare, with only few cases of such an association having been reported. Leukemia cutis (LC) is a rare feature of acute myeloblastic leukemia (AML). Little information is available regarding its prognostic influence on post-transplant outcome. A serological survey for the presence of antibodies against the human T-cell leukemia virus, type 1 (HTLV-1) in patients seen at the Chubu Hospital in Okinawa was undertaken. Two rare cases of Burkitt's lymphoma presenting as acute leukemia are described. Both patients had typical features of Burkitt's lymphoma with rapidly growing, extranodal tumor masses which were multifocal.
