Where is the patient in the records? Evaluating physiotherapists' first visit in occupational health primary care pathway for low back pain.

BACKGROUND: Clinical guidelines recommend a biopsychosocial approach to low back pain (LBP) management, with physiotherapists playing a key role in occupational health primary care (OHPC). However, little is known about how their clinical behaviours at the first visit align with guideline-oriented biopsychosocial principles. Therefore, we evaluated LBP management quality in OHPC by applying predefined criteria to physiotherapists' documentation. METHODS: Based on a cluster-randomised implementation study data (ISRCTN11875357) we analysed 98 electronic patient records (EPRs) documented by 28 p…

Differences in teletherapy and telecare?-Experiences of health professionals and patients with video communication in nursing, physiotherapy, occupational therapy, and speech therapy.

INTRODUCTION: The spread and implementation of digital synchronous video communication in telecare and teletherapy has recently increased significantly, not just because of COVID-19 but also due to a global trend towards more digital healthcare services in the last two decades. This shift prompts the question of how digital telesetting differs from a face-to-face setting and which aspects are fundamental. METHODS: As the first part of a mixed-method study, qualitative interviews (n = 20) were conducted from July 2021 to January 2022. Health professionals (n = 13) and patients (n = 7) from occ

A Systematic Review on the Research Progress and Evolving Trends of Occupational Health and Safety Management: A Bibliometric Analysis of Mapping Knowledge Domains.

Background: Effective occupational health and safety management (OHSM) is important to employee health, enterprise sustainability, and social stability. However, scientific research into OHSM lags behind practice, and contextualizing OHSM research from the perspective of its historical evolution is urgently required. Methods: The mapping of knowledge domains, based on bibliometric analysis, was adopted to classify 4,852 journal articles related to OHSM listed in the core database of Web of Science and published between 1900 and 2018. Results and Conclusions: Risk assessment/management at the o…

Dermal Exposure to Hazardous Chemicals in Baby Diapers: A Re-Evaluation of the Quantitative Health Risk Assessment Conducted by The French Agency for Food, Environmental and Occupational Health and Safety (ANSES).

In January 2019, the French Agency for Food, Environmental and Occupational Health and Safety (ANSES) published an opinion on risks related to the presence of hazardous chemicals in infant diapers. ANSES found that health reference values were largely exceeded for polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs), dioxins (PCCD/Fs) and dioxin-like polychlorobiphenyls (DL-PCBs). The levels of formaldehyde and some fragrances were also considered potentially unsafe. Therefore, ANSES concluded that actions have to be taken to restrict levels of these contaminants in diapers. Under the exposure scenario dee…

Felt and expressed needs regarding occupational health services from the perspective of micro-, small and medium-sized enterprises: a scoping review.

BACKGROUND: In the context of the changing need for health care and prevention due to climate, digital and demographic change, occupational health services are of enormous relevance, as many people can be reached. Of particular interest are the occupational health services in micro-, small- and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs), as smaller companies are experiencing an unequal distribution of resources. To optimise the implementation in MSMEs, the aim of this scoping review is to present an overview of the MSMEs' needs regarding occupational health services. METHODS: The literature search was …

Occupational Health Hazards and Management Practices Among Nurses in Public Healthcare Facilities in Four Sub-Sahara African Countries: A Scoping Review.

BACKGROUND: Nurses in sub-Sahara Africa are disproportionately exposed to occupational health hazards. These risks are intensified by persistent shortages of resources, inadequate training, weak reporting systems and fragile safety infrastructures, all of which undermine nurses' well-being and compromise the quality of healthcare delivery. PURPOSE: The aim of this study was to map the existing evidence on practices for managing occupational health hazards among nurses in public healthcare facilities in four sub-Sahara African countries: Ghana, South Africa, Ethiopia and Uganda. METHODS: A sc…

Decreased Occupational Functioning and Increased Physical Health Complaints in Treatment Seekers with Internet-Related Disorders: Compared to Patients with Gambling Disorder.

BACKGROUND: Internet-related disorders (IRDs) as a growing mental health issue will probably be included in the upcoming ICD-11. While research on psychological aspects has progressed, less data are available regarding the physical health status of patients. Thus, we provide new data on physical health complaints, prediagnosed illness, level of functioning, and work ability in a clinical sample. METHODS: From consecutive treatment seekers, we included n = 286 patients with IRD, n = 95 subjects with excessive yet not disordered Internet use, and n = 106 patients with gambling disorder (GD).
