BACKGROUND: Grommet insertion is one of the most commonly performed minor surgical procedures in otolaryngological practice. For such minor procedures in the outpatient, local anaesthetics are preferred; this is even more so in adults especially for grommet insertion. The present study explored the feasibility of using graphite electrodes for the electrochemical oxidation of cyanide, thiocyanate, phenol and aniline with hydrogen peroxide. The dosing effects of hydrogen peroxide and current density were examined in the pre-treated coke oven wastewater. It was found that 0.025 M hydrogen peroxide and 13.63 mA/cm2 of current density were more favorable for the removal of 100%, 90%, 71% and 40% cyanide, thiocyanate, phenol and aniline respectively. The presence of abundant storage proteins in plant embryos greatly impedes seed proteomics analysis. Vicilin (or globulin-1) is the most abundant storage protein in maize embryo. BACKGROUND: Advanced structure-activity relationship (SAR) modeling can be used as an alternative tool for identification of skin sensitizers and in improvement of the medical diagnosis and more effective practical measures to reduce the causative chemical exposures. It can also circumvent ethical concern of using animals in toxicological tests, and reduce time and cost. Compounds with aniline or phenol moieties represent two large classes of frequently skin sensitizing chemicals but exhibiting very variable, and difficult to predict, potency. An unusual case of acute renal failure is reported following accidental cutaneous absorption of phenol and exposure to dichloromethane. Throughout the present century phenol has been used to "sterilise" the edges of cavities left in bone after the clearance of benign tumours in order to reduce the risk of local recurrence. The results have been analysed of 165 benign bone tumours capable of local recurrence (aneurysmal bone cyst, chondroblastoma, giant cell tumour) treated with and without the use of phenol. The overall recurrence rate was 41% in 98 cases treated by simple curettage and 7% in 27 cases treated by curettage followed by the application of phenol.

In 1960, some 72 000 schoolchildren in British Guiana participated in a controlled field trial of typhoid fever vaccines that was supported in part by the World Health Organization.
