Population-level barriers to home hemodialysis implementation: a public health systems analysis of adoption readiness, health equity, and policy implications in China.

BACKGROUND: Home hemodialysis (HHD) can improve clinical outcomes and reduce system costs, yet utilization remains negligible in mainland China. This study quantified population-level willingness to adopt HHD and identified multilevel determinants with direct relevance to service delivery, equity, and implementation. METHODS: A cross-sectional survey was conducted at a tertiary dialysis center in Huzhou, China (February 2022-November 2025) among consecutive adults receiving thrice-weekly in-center hemodialysis for ≥3 months. The primary outcome was high HHD adoption intent (Likert 4-5). Multi

Clarifying Associations between Childhood Adversity, Social Support, Behavioral Factors, and Mental Health, Health, and Well-Being in Adulthood: A Population-Based Study.

Previous studies have shown that socio-demographic factors, childhood socioeconomic status (CSES), childhood traumatic experiences (CTEs), social support and behavioral factors are associated with health and well-being in adulthood. However, the relative importance of these factors for mental health, health, and well-being has not been studied. Moreover, the mechanisms by which CTEs affect mental health, health, and well-being in adulthood are not clear. Using data from a representative sample (n = 12,981) of the adult population in Tromsø, Norway, this study examines (i) the relative contribu

Health Inequalities Among Roma Populations in Europe: An Intersectional Critical Narrative Review of Poverty, Ethnicity, Gender, and Intercultural Health Mediation.

Roma populations across Europe experience persistent health inequalities associated with poverty, ethnic marginalization, gendered disadvantage, and unequal encounters with healthcare institutions. Although these factors have been widely documented, less attention has been paid to how they interact and reinforce one another across contexts. This article presents a critical narrative review of literature published mainly between 2010 and 2025, complemented by selected theoretical sources on intersectionality and structural health inequalities. Using an intersectionality-informed perspective, th

[Selected elements of health status of the Polish population in relation to other European countries in the light of the program "Health for all up to 2000"].

Total mortality from main causes of death (diseases of circulatory system, malignant neoplasms, injuries and poisoning) life expectancy at birth, infant and maternal mortality in Poland in the years 1970-1988 were analyzed on the basis of targets of the regional strategy for "Health for all by the year 2000" (HFA 2000). It seems that it isn't possible to achieve targets concerning mortality by the year 2000. However it is possible to decrease infant and maternal mortality. Standardization of health indicators to european population allows to compare health status of the polish population to ot

Dynamics of Leptospirosis Transmission Within Urban Norway Rat (Rattus norvegicus) Populations in Densely Populated French Areas: Implications for Public Health.

Leptospirosis, a bacterial zoonosis with a worldwide distribution, represents a major public health challenge. It is caused by the spirochete Leptospira, whose main reservoir in urban environments is the brown rat (Rattus norvegicus). Understanding the transmission dynamics of this disease within a rat population is essential for controlling the risk of human infection. In this study, an original capture method was used to analyze variations in carriage and bacterial load according to age in two distinct populations of brown rats, to provide a better understanding of the transmission routes of

Prevalence of Chlamydia trachomatis in the general population in Germany - a triangulation of data from two population-based health surveys and a laboratory sentinel system.

BACKGROUND: Chlamydia trachomatis (chlamydia) is a common, frequently asymptomatic, sexually transmitted infection. It can result in severe sequelae, such as ectopic pregnancy and infertility. In Germany, chlamydia is not notifiable. An opportunistic screening program for women < 25 years was introduced in 2008. The aim of this research was to triangulate different data sources to describe the epidemiological situation of chlamydia in Germany and to investigate whether the current target group of the chlamydia screening program aligns with these findings. METHODS: Urine specimens from partici

Recommendations on population screening for colorectal cancer in New Zealand. Members of the National Health Committee Working Party on Population Screening for Colorectal Cancer.

The National Advisory Committee on Health and Disability invited a working party to make recommendations on population screening for colorectal cancer in New Zealand. Recent results from randomised controlled trials of screening with guaiac faecal occult blood tests have provided evidence that population screening could reduce mortality from colorectal cancer. However, given the modest potential level of benefit, the considerable commitment of health sector resources, and the small but real potential for harm, the working party does not recommend population screening for colorectal cancer with
