Objective Demands on endoscopy services have increased substantially in recent years, exacerbated by the COVID-19 pandemic. Oesophagogastroduodenoscopy (OGD) under conscious sedation is poorly tolerated by a subgroup of patients, who are often referred for propofol-sedated or general anaesthetic OGD (GA OGD), a resource-intensive procedure associated with prolonged waiting times. AIM: Failure of dental treatment caused by anxiety is a common problem in children. Oral midazolam has been the most commonly used premedication for pediatric patient but the use of midazolam may be associated with paradoxical reactions in children. PURPOSE: Regulations have broadened to allow moderate sedation administration for gastrointestinal endoscopy by non-anesthesia personnel. The line between moderate and deep sedation is ambiguous. Deep sedation offers patient comfort as well as greater safety concerns. Unintended deep sedation can occur if drug interactions are overlooked. A total of 37 percutaneous epididymal sperm aspiration (PESA) and/or testicular sperm aspiration (TESA) procedures were performed under local anaesthesia (LA) on 34 men between June and November 1996.
