We studied the clinical characteristics of transient global amnesia (TGA) in 277 patients with an average follow-up of 80 months. The syndrome occurred most frequently after age 50. There was a history of migraine in 14.1% and cerebrovascular diseases in 11.2% of patients, but these conditions were usually not temporally linked to TGA. Characteristic antecedent events and activity such as exertion existed in 33.4%. The incidence of TGA was 5.2 per 100,000 per year in Rochester, MN. Although 23.8% of the patients had recurrent episodes, they were not at increased risk for subsequent stroke.

The evolution of 60 cases of hypertrophic cardiomyopathy over a mean period of 6.3 years is described. In 88 patients with the adult respiratory distress syndrome, clinical, laboratory, cardiopulmonary, and demographic data collected on the day of onset of the syndrome were used to identify predictors of survivorship and mortality. The term "spondylotic cervical myelopathy" is not generally used in the same manner. It is not correct at all to use the expression "spondylotic cervical myelopathy" for an illness inducing damage of the cervical spine. This however happens in literature--especially in neurochirurgical ones very often. It is additionally confusing when the specific course of illness induces pathogenetical statements. Ten patients with poor-prognosis gestational trophoblastic neoplasia were treated from 1979 to 1983 primarily with the modified Bagshawe chemotherapy regimen. Nineteen episodes of ischemic hepatitis were diagnosed by hepatitic liver function tests and characteristic liver pathology in 17 patients. All patients had an acute illness associated with a likely fall in cardiac output although only five episodes were associated with documented hypotension. 144 patients (107 adults and 37 children) belonging to a homogenous North Indian population who were hospitalised for acute post-streptococcal glomerulonephritis have been followed up for a period of ten years. The majority of these belonged to the lower socio-economic group. Choriocarcinoma is known to be sensitive to chemotherapy. Remission rates of 70% are reported for patients with metastatic disease. The Southeastern Regional Trophoblastic Disease Center of Duke University has reviewed its experience with the treatment of cerebral metastases from choriocarcinoma.
