Echinococcal disease remains a major problem within some endemic areas. We report a case of a single primary echinococcal cyst located in the retroperitoneal space. OBJECTIVE: Extreme lateral disc herniations are described. Usually, the herniated disc is described as being at the lateral edge of the neural foramen. Herniated discs that lodge beyond this location need to be included in the differential of retroperitoneal lesions impinging on nerve roots.

PURPOSE: Laparoscopic radical nephrectomy is preferentially performed by transperitoneal approach. Despite offering advantages the direct retroperitoneal laparoscopic approach has not found uniform acceptance due to small working space in the retroperitoneum. A 5-year-old girl presented with a clinical picture of rapidly progressing acute meningococcal sepsis. A routine bedside abdominal ultrasound examination which was done daily showed on the 2nd and 3rd hospital day massive right adrenal hemorrhage with extension into the retroperitoneal fat tissue and intraperitoneal space. Chylous cysts are medical rarities found mainly in the mesentary of the small intestine and the retroperitoneal space. Other localities are extremely rare and difficult to explain. A case of chylous cyst of the mesentery of the transverse colon is presented with brief review of the literature. Background Retroperitoneal sarcomas (RPS) are rare and complex tumors originating from the retroperitoneal space, an anatomical region nestled behind the abdominal cavity and shielded by the posterior abdominal wall.
