Phakic intraocular lenses are used to correct refractive errors. The procedure is predictable and potentially reversible. The procedure is not free of complications though. Intracorneal foreign bodies that persist for a long time are rare. This report presents an unusual case of a foreign body retained in the cornea for over 25 years. The patient, a 42-year-old woman, had a history of ocular trauma caused by a wooden stick. Slit-lamp biomicroscopy of her right eye revealed a 1.5 mm-long intracorneal foreign body extending through Descemet's membrane into the anterior chamber. Amyloidosis is characterized by systemic or local deposition of amyloid fibrils outside organs and tissues. Amyloidosis is rarely seen on cornea. A 14-month-old girl was admitted to our clinic due to failure to thrive. Her weight and height were below the third percentile for age. Laboratory examination showed signs of alkalosis, hypokalemia, and hypochloremia. However, her urinalysis was consistent with renal tubular acidosis. PURPOSE: We report a case of ocular worm treated surgically and confirmed by microbiological identification.
METHODS: A 33-year-old Swiss woman presented to the ophthalmic unit, complaining of pain and foreign body sensation in the left eye. Slit-lamp examination disclosed a subconjunctival amber -colored cord in the conjunctival fornix. Presentation, clinical and histopathologic evaluation, and treatment are described.
RESULTS: At the time of surgery, an alive and still intact worm was extracted through conjunctival incision. Histopathology confirmed the presence of filariasis.

Ninety-nine eyes with keratoconus of 64 patients were examined using the sagittal radii method to determine the corneal flattening and compared with 100 eyes of 50 healthy controls. To express the degree of this flattening, four numerical eccentricity (E) values for each eye were calculated. The highest E value of the four was chosen as a parameter for diagnosis of the disease.
