Diagnosis and management of adult female stress urinary incontinence: guidelines for clinical practice from the French College of Gynaecologists and Obstetricians.

Urinary incontinence is a frequent affliction in women and may be disabling and costly {LE1}. When consulting for urinary incontinence, it is recommended that circumstances, frequency and severity of leaks be specified {Grade B}. The cough test is recommended prior to surgery {Grade C}. Urodynamic investigations are not needed before lower urinary tract rehabilitation {Grade B}. A complete urodynamic investigation is recommended prior to surgery for urinary incontinence {Grade C}. In cases of pure stress urinary incontinence, urodynamic investigations are not essential prior to surgery provide

Sexual function improvement following surgery for stress incontinence: the relevance of coital incontinence.

INTRODUCTION: Little is known about the impact of surgery for stress urinary incontinence (SUI) on female sexual function, and results are conflicting. AIMS: We aimed to clarify the impact of surgery for SUI on female sexual function. METHODS: We analyzed data collected from two studies evaluating sexual function in women after placement of the tension-free vaginal tape, tension-free vaginal tape obturator, or transobturator suburethral tape. A nonvalidated sexual questionnaire developed by Lemack, translated into Dutch, was mailed to all patients 3-12 months after the procedure. MAIN OUTCO

Timing and Cost Consideration in Surgery for Male Stress Urinary Incontinence For Current Urology Reports.

PURPOSE OF REVIEW: Surgery remains the standard of definitive care in male stress urinary incontinence (SUI). This narrative review provides a critical discussion of pertinent aspects of male continence surgery, including cost-benefit analysis and whether continence surgery should be offered earlier. RECENT FINDINGS: Controversies exist regarding the timing of surgery and whether the male sling (MS) is superior to the artificial urinary sphincter (AUS). Presently, significant gaps exist in the cost analysis and modelling for the most effective treatment in male SUI. Each continence device has

Comparing Single-Incision Midurethral Sling with Bulking Agents for Female Stress Urinary Incontinence: Rationale for a Non-Randomized Controlled Trial.

OBJECTIVES: Midurethral slings are considered the gold standard for the surgical treatment of stress urinary incontinence (SUI), with an efficacy up to 80%. Another therapeutic option is the use of bulking agents, which create an artificial mass in the urethral submucosa, with an efficacy varying from 64% to 74%. Although bulking agents have a lower risk of complications than midurethral sling surgery, they are mainly used in case a midurethral sling is not an option or if midurethral sling surgery failed to cure stress urinary incontinence. In this study, we offer all patients with SUI in sec

Cost-effectiveness of prophylactic retropubic sling at the time of vaginal prolapse surgery.

BACKGROUND: Prophylactic midurethral sling placement at the time of prolapse repair significantly reduces the risk for de novo stress urinary incontinence, but it is associated with some small but significant morbidities. Because there has not been a standardized approach to midurethral sling utilization, decision analysis provides a method to evaluate the cost and effectiveness associated with varying midurethral sling placement strategies in addressing the risk for de novo stress urinary incontinence. OBJECTIVE: We aimed to compare the cost effectiveness of the 3 midurethral sling utilizati

Total trans-obturator tape (TOT) removal; a case series including pain and urinary continence outcomes.

INTRODUCTION AND HYPOTHESIS: For many years, mid-urethral mesh tape (MUT) was the gold-standard procedure for management of stress urinary incontinence (SUI). However, significant concerns were raised over its safety. We present a case series of total trans-obturator tape (TOT) removals, performed in a tertiary unit over a 3-year period. We aim to evaluate improvement of pain and change in urinary continence symptoms following mesh explantation. METHODS: This is a retrospective case series of the outcomes of total TOT removal. Primary outcome is the change in pain scores following total remov
