Pulmonary complications are frequent and sometimes lethal in allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation recipients. In our hospital, 16 transplanted patients had pulmonary complications at post-mortem examination. We review the patients' clinical courses and histopathological findings of their lungs, and discuss the factors related to the onset of the pulmonary complications. The placement of glaucoma drainage implants may be complicated by tube-corneal touch and endothelial decompensation, particularly after corneal transplantation. We describe an innovative surgical approach to glaucoma drainage implant procedures that may decrease such complications. The approach involves placement of the shunt tube into the ciliary sulcus. This approach may serve as an alternative to anterior chamber angle or pars plana implant placement in pseudophakic or aphakic eyes with refractory glaucoma and a high risk for corneal decompensation.

Organ transplantation has become routine in many hospitals throughout the world. Nuclear medicine techniques have played a significant role in the success of these programs through measurements of blood flow and function in these grafts, as well as assessments of infection and rejection. This paper emphasizes the present status of radiotracer methodology for evaluating heart and heart/lung transplants and also includes a brief summary of the development of nuclear medicine studies of other transplants.

The long-term survivors of pediatric renal transplantation show, in our early experience, an excellent status of rehabilitation. The majority of the survivors are enjoying good health and lead active lives. Skin lesions constituted significant morbidity, requiring a better understanding and preventive strategy. Cardiovascular disease appearing in such a young age group is another disturbing problem. The problem of mental health is surprisingly small in these hardy survivors.
