PURPOSE: To describe the clinical characteristics of refugees with HIV from Ukraine that seek continuation of medical care in Germany.
METHODS: Fourty-six refugees with HIV that had left Ukraine between 24 February and 30 December 2022 were examined. Information on patients' history was obtained using a standardized questionnaire for clinical care. Interviews were conducted in Russian during their first clinical presentation.

The incidence of extrathoracic tuberculosis (ETB) continues to increase slowly, especially in immunocompromised and multidrug-resistant tuberculosis (TB) patients. ETB manifests with nonspecific clinical symptoms, and being less frequent, is less familiar to most physicians. Imaging modalities of choice are computed tomography (lymphadenopathy and abdominal TB) and MR imaging (central nervous system and musculoskeletal system TB). ETB commonly involves multiple organ systems with characteristic imaging findings that permit accurate diagnosis and timely management.

We describe a rare case of fatal disseminated tuberculous peritonitis in a young woman with rapid progressive clinical course following spontaneous abortion of 20-week gestation. Hepatic granulomas were present in 3.7% of liver biopsies from a 6-year Greek study. The majority of cases were due to autoimmune disease (primary biliary cirrhosis), followed by sarcoidosis and idiopathic causes. Infections were infrequent. This profile is similar to series from the USA, Ireland and Scotland. It contrasts dramatically with series from Turkey and Saudi Arabia where infectious aetiologies form the majority of cases, and autoimmune cases are not reported. Tuberculosis and schistosomiasis are the most prevalent infections. The patient sex and age differ strikingly in some series.

BACKGROUND: The role of GB virus-C/hepatitis G virus (GBV-C/HGV) in fulminant hepatitis (FH) and subfulminant hepatitis (SFH) remains unclear.
METHODS: Thirty-two FH or SFH patients, with adequate clinical information and serum specimens, were studied. Serum samples were tested for hepatitis markers and genomes of hepatitis A-E viruses, as well as GBV-C/HGV.
