BACKGROUND: To minimize cardiac perforation during the minimally invasive repair of pectus excavatum (MIRPE), several surgeons have suggested using a suction device to intraoperatively lift the sternum. METHODS: A retrospective cohort study was undertaken of all vacuum-assisted deliveries performed over a period of 2 years.
