CASE REPORT: We present the case of a 71-year-old man with a melanoma arising from the ciliary body and extending into the choroid. Ultrasound biomicroscopy (UBM) revealed connection via an emissary canal to a subconjunctival nodule. BACKGROUND/AIMS: NG2 is the rat homologue of the human melanoma proteoglycan (HMP), also known as the high molecular weight melanoma associated antigen. Most cutaneous melanomas, as well as glioblastomas, chondrosarcomas, and some leukaemias express NG2 immunoreactivity, recognised using monoclonal antibody (mAb) 9.2.27. This antibody has also been used for molecular targeting in targeted alpha therapy for melanoma. A case of ocular melanocytosis with the simultaneous occurrence of a choroidal malignant melanoma, a ciliary body melanocytoma and a surface plaque iris naevus in an 80-year-old male Caucasian is reported. Patients with ocular or oculodermal melanocytosis are considered to be at risk for tumour formation and malignant transformation; the multiple melanocytic tumours of the present case support this hypothesis.

The significance of surgery for choroid plexus tumors is well established, but surgical resection of those in the fourth ventricle has not been evaluated. This study reviewed five consecutive patients with choroid plexus tumors in the fourth ventricle treated in our institute between 1996 and 2005, focusing on the factors that hindered total extirpation. OBJECTIVE: This study aims to evaluate the impact of gross total resection of giant supratentorial brain tumors (GSBT) on survival and neurological outcome in a consecutive single-center pediatric series.
METHODS: Clinical data of 23 patients under 18 years of age operated with GSBT (≥5 cm in diameter) were reviewed to determine epidemiological aspects, clinical presentation, associated factors, histopathological features, and outcome. Primary cancers of the eye are rare. Plaque brachytherapy has been used in the management of small to medium-sized choroidal melanomas for the past few decades. As the inferior oblique muscle lies in close relation to the macula, the placement procedure of plaques often involves sacrificing the inferior oblique muscle, especially in cases of macular or perimacular choroidal melanomas. In this study, we have described a simple maneuver to preserve the inferior oblique muscle.

We report on a 19-year-old patient with Sturge-Weber syndrome (SWS), accompanied by a Naevus flammeus, secondary glaucoma, and glaucomatous optic atrophy of the right eye. The painful and blind eye was enucleated. Histopathological analysis revealed a circumscribed choroidal hemangioma around the optic nerve and a smaller extrascleral hemangioma. Molecular genetic testing excluded GNA11, GNAQ, or GNAS mutations. Our work illuminates the clinical, histological, and molecular genetic aspects of this rare case, contributing to the differential diagnosis of ocular conditions in patients with SWS.
